I walk to work, so I'm good for the environment these days. However, the wear and tear that used be directed to my car tires now falls on my high heels! [more inside]

ShoeStoreFilter: In search of good shoe store in the Bay Area (San Francisco or Berkeley preferred) for ecco shoes, Birkenstocks (the walking shoes, not the sandals), and White Mountain. I prefer not to buy shoes on line.

Where can I find dinosaur slippers? Specifically, they must make a "roaring" noise each step you take. Do these even exist or am I imagining them?

okay, clearly not the most important questioning that needs answering but why do hookers/strippers/women who want to convey they are 'slutty' love those clunky see through shoes? [more inside]

Needed- best running shops in the New York metropolitan area for getting feet (flat) and gait (upright) analyzed and shoes recommended. A place that knows its stuff and isn't going to shove whatever they have the most of in back down my leg. (Or am I being hopelessly naive?) Thanks in advance.

I bought some nice leather shoes a few months ago. I recently had to walk around the rainy streets of London for half an hour or so, and during this time the water soaked right up through the leather soles and into the uppers. Is this a) normal? b) preventable?

I am considering the online purchase of some Le Coq Sportif shoes. Undortunately there is no where in Santa Fe where i can try some on first, so I can find my size. For instance, I wear an 11 in new balances but a 10 in mephistos. Are there any websites that compare shoe fit by brand? Or does anyone have info on the fit of Le Coq Sportif? thanks

I have (a) a bad back (herniated L4-L5) and (b) very flat feet, so with every step I take when walking I feel a huge jolt go up my spine. Without resorting to the ridiculous looking Z-coil shoes, what's the next best thing? [more inside]

What can I do for numbness in the balls of my feet? Over the past year, as I approach 60, I have developed what I have self-diagnosed as a form of metatarsalgia - the balls of my feet get increasingly numb during the day - possibly due to thinning of the tissues in the feet. The more flexible and cushioned the shoe, the less the problem, and cushion inserts also help. Are there shoes and/or inserts that have helped others with this specific problem?

Shoefilter: I have 2 pairs of sandals that I adore and have pretty much worn right out. I cannot find them anywhere and would like to have them re-made (or a replica made from scratch). Is there anywhere in this hemisphere that will do that for less than the national debt? [more inside]

I've heard that both shoes with open toes and shoes with open heels are considered too casual for some professional environments. But what about shoes with open sides, like this

Alas, the 3 1/2-inch stiletto heel on one of my glorious Calvin Klein brown suede pumps has broken, after a year of intensive catwalking on NYC pavement. The steel rod inside the heel bent in half. I tried to straighten it out with a vise, but the heel bent again as soon as I tried to walk on it. The shoe repair guy I went to claimed it's impossible to fix. But I know I can fix it by replacing the steel rod. Any ideas on where to find one?

I'm really interested in the soon coming iPod+Nike
technology: Basically a really high tech way of tracking your running, syncing it with your computer, tracking your progress, interacting with others, etc. However, I'd really kind of like to avoid Nike for it's high prices and other reasons, so does anyone know any other similar high tech products that could help me track my run? Extra points for Mac compatibility.
