Help me find a better soft arch support! I have been using Dr. Scholl's For Her
arch supports in my work flats and low heels and, while they are soft and supportive, they never stay in place! Has anyone found an arch support that a) stays in one place and b) doesn't add as much bulk to a shoe as an orthodic or Superfeet?

I've a problem with my back which I've asked about previously
. I'm seeing a physiotherapist who has given me some advice about supporting it. First, to wear supportive shoes, and second, to sleep using an extra pillow for support. Can you help me out with both of these, fellow sufferers? Snowflakes inside. [more inside]

I am looking for flip-flops that have nice arch support. The arch on my left foot collapses quite a bit when I walk. I want the shoes to be flip-flops, not Birkenstock-style sandals. I am male, and I live in the U.S.

Is there any hope of ever finding reasonably hip men's shoes that can accommodate orthotics? By "hip", I don't mean hip for, like, Herman Munster.
I live in NYC area, but will travel.
