I am a Canadian who is going to be going down to Bangor, Maine in a couple weeks time. One task for the trip is to find shoes for the wedding. I have really difficult feet to fit and I was hoping to get some suggestions for places to try. (Suggestions for plus size clothing stores that have cute/retro/fashionable would also be helpful.)

I'm interested in watching more documentaries or miniseries about the fashion/clothing industry. Three I've rented recently were Valentino:The Last Emperor, The September Issue, and Signé Chanel. I especially enjoyed the last two as they really showed a lot behind the scenes about how stuff is made (both the media and the couture dressmaking sides).

I am searching for beautifully crafted, durable women’s shoes made from leather that will last for years. I know this is a tough bill to fit so I am not limiting this search to any particular kind of shoe or price range. For boots, I typically look for strong welting (Goodyear method) but this is increasingly difficult to find. I love the look of Frye’s but most seem poor quality for the money. For example, the outsole and upper are simply glued together in most models (although the engineer boots look pretty solid). For heels/dress shoes, I am interested in full-grain leather instead of the bonded or “genuine” stuff. I’ve heard good things about Fluevog and Chie Mihara, but haven’t looked into them yet. Any experiences? What other brands might have these qualities? Are there high quality men’s shoe brands out there that also make shoes for women?

Unfortunately the beautiful ivory and crystal 3 inch pumps I bought for my wedding make my dress too short! I was kind of distressed, but now I'm seeing this as an opportunity to get a little wilder. Wedding colors are red-red and any shade of purple. Please link me any (well, no Chucks please and no flip flops) kind of pretty/sexy low heeled shoes (in ivory, muted gold, red, or purple). Interested in a kitten heel in ivory, but I'm also way more open minded now than I was before. Purple suede laceup Oxford with side cutouts? Sexy red patent kitten pump? Ankle booties? My dress is ivory lace, strapless, floor length. Thank you thank you thank you!

Classy, not-too-ugly shoes. Level of difficulty: for a lady, chem and clean room lab appropriate (no heels, foot completely covered).

What should I wear to a destination wedding in St. Barths? It's going to be full of super-swanky people (fashion industry & banker types), and I'm but a 21 year old on a student's budget who has never gone to a wedding before. Dress and shoe recommendations highly appreciated, preferably from stores in NYC.

What is the noticeable difference between a $100 pair of men's dress shoes and a $500 pair of men's dress shoes? I wear standard, department store $100 dress shoes to work every day (I used to wear Cole Haan; now I wear Johnston & Murphy). When the $100 shoe soles wear out, I have them re-soled. They do end up looking beat-up fairly quickly, even with polishing. I have been told that, if I spend more money on the shoes, they will last longer and the investment will be worth it.
