Best standing shoes for elderly mom?

My mom (she's 71) continues to work a couple of part time jobs, both out of financial need and a determination to keep working. One of them has her standing on a concrete floor for fairly long periods a few times a week. I'm looking for advice on the best shoes that will keep her as comfortable as possible, ones I can buy online (preferably in Canada) and send to her. [more inside]

Help me replace my bum-around, easy on/off, handyman shoes!

I have some great shoes I love that are ... falling apart. [pic] Unfortunately, they've been discontinued! I can get something sort of similar but there are still some drawbacks. Diligent searching hasn't turned up my perfect work shoe, though. In short, I want something tough like a work boot, easy to put on and take off (i.e. velcro straps), but with walking-shoe type soles and as light as possible. [more inside]

What various socks are best for work, walking, lounging, and more?

Askmefites always recommend socks. The best gift for dad, the best thing to spend money on, the best things to put on your feet, etc. Sometimes they recommend brands, sometimes they recommend uses of the socks. Usually, they just say "buy good socks". This is basically a question asking for more details. [more inside]

Do you like internet shoe hunts?

These Indigo by Clark's Plush Sateen in Black [size 8 Medium!] are the black shoes I keep at work at all times. I have a few pairs of black and brown under my desk, but these shoes are perfect. So so comfortable. Go with skirts, skirt suits, pants, anything. Nondescript, but classy. And I've killed them. I need new ones. I have boring normal feet-this shouldn't be so hard. [more inside]

Shoe Filter. Cute, affordable, and comfortable. I'm not willing to pick only two. Metafilter, I want to be cute and summery this summer, and my small shoe wardrobe does not support that. Also, I am a special snowflake with slightly weird feet. [more inside]
