I just purchased a bunch of new clothing at Theory, which is definitely a much hipper store than I'm used to shopping at. (My old standby was Banana Republic.) The sales staff was very helpful, and I'm very pleased with what I came home with, but I'd love some help in mixing and matching everything. Photos of (almost) all of the items I bought can be found here

So I am about to embark on a new phase in life, one outside of academia (most likely) and am done having kids, and thus, need to finally get some clothes and other stuff (shoes, bras) to help my look transition as well. The problems? I like the clothes I get to wear now and I HATE shopping. So I need suggestions as to where to go and what to buy! Help please! [more inside]
So this website sells these awesome Game of Thrones House Martell high-top sneakers
. Unfortunately they don't have them in my size (US Men's 13).
I cried for a bit, and now I'm asking: Where can I find high-tops in a similar golden-orange color? I really love it!
Living in the Alps and going to Iceland in a few weeks, I decided to invest in a decent pair of hiking boots for walking in the mountains, amongst rocks, rough terrain and even volcanoes and glaciers in the case of Iceland. I have not had such shoes for a long time, so am new to such a purchase. After trying the boots at home for a few hours, I am experiencing discomfort in my ankles. Is his normal or should I take the boots back? [more inside]
I'm interested in watching more documentaries or miniseries about the fashion/clothing industry. Three I've rented recently were Valentino:The Last Emperor, The September Issue, and Signé Chanel. I especially enjoyed the last two as they really showed a lot behind the scenes about how stuff is made (both the media and the couture dressmaking sides). [more inside]

My sweaters are pilled. My shoes are scuffed. My skirts have random threads coming out. My thin knit tops have pulls. My favourite shirt has a small salad dressing stain just to the left of my belly button. Your sweaters look new, your shoes look immaculate, you generally look pulled together. How do you do it? What is the noticeable difference between a $100 pair of men's dress shoes and a $500 pair of men's dress shoes? I wear standard, department store $100 dress shoes to work every day (I used to wear Cole Haan; now I wear Johnston & Murphy). When the $100 shoe soles wear out, I have them re-soled. They do end up looking beat-up fairly quickly, even with polishing. I have been told that, if I spend more money on the shoes, they will last longer and the investment will be worth it. [more inside]
Does anyone have any idea who made the purple shoes Jamie Pressley wore on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon (3/20/09)?
They were surely among the most bad-assed women's shoes I have ever seen.

I am considering the online purchase of some Le Coq Sportif shoes. Undortunately there is no where in Santa Fe where i can try some on first, so I can find my size. For instance, I wear an 11 in new balances but a 10 in mephistos. Are there any websites that compare shoe fit by brand? Or does anyone have info on the fit of Le Coq Sportif? thanks
For six years I've worn a particular kind of black boot which has, understandably, succumbed to the ravages of time. It's kind of like a military boot and kind of like a workboot as this crappy cellphone photo
demonstrates. My sister bought the original pair for me in Portland and doesn't remember any of the details: store name, brand name, and so forth. My guess is a place like GI Joe's
. Any idea what this style of boot is called? And does anyone have a preferred online shopping outlet for kind of standard-issue apparel?
