I managed to majorly blister the back of both of my heels this weekend. Both heels have quarter/loonie sized blisters. I need them to heal AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE because in four days I am going on a trip that
cannot be rescheduled, and one of the main purposes of the trip is to try on and buy shoes for my wedding.

Is this from a movie or something? I've encountered it online but can't track down its origin. It's an animated gif of a man's shoes, and they have mouths with teeth opening and closing and tongues flapping.
You can see it here.

Recently, Converse put out some "vintage" chucks recently (see
here) but they are only available from certain retailers. I'd like to purchase a pair but I have no idea where to find them in Washington, DC. Has anyone seen these around or know of a place in DC that would stock them?

My father just had double bypass surgery and is recovering. As part of his recovery he needs to walk - where can I take him to get some decent walking shoes in the Raleigh/Cary, NC area? Cost is no object, however I was thinking of going to REI first.
A few less than fun facts - he's overweight and has bad circulation in his feet at this stage of the game if that impacts things.

I am a Canadian who is going to be going down to Bangor, Maine in a couple weeks time. One task for the trip is to find shoes for the wedding. I have really difficult feet to fit and I was hoping to get some suggestions for places to try. (Suggestions for plus size clothing stores that have cute/retro/fashionable would also be helpful.)

I just bought a pair of shoes that use the rubber from old tires for the soles. The soles seem durable and they're surprisingly flexible. It made me wonder, why don't more companies use tire rubber for shoe soles?
Bonus question: There always seem to be piles of old tires around - what other uses could these tires be put to?

I'm interested in watching more documentaries or miniseries about the fashion/clothing industry. Three I've rented recently were Valentino:The Last Emperor, The September Issue, and Signé Chanel. I especially enjoyed the last two as they really showed a lot behind the scenes about how stuff is made (both the media and the couture dressmaking sides).

I have a very exciting interview Wednesday and realized that my footwear is completely not up to the task, because I normally select workaday shoes that I can walk miles in and don't care if they are destroyed. I need a work-fabulous (i.e., no open toed) celebratory pair of heels for a special occasion.

I used to have a pair of
John Fluevog Gibson Swirls in black, and I loved them. I rode 'em into the ground. I'm once again in the market for a kinda-funky, kinda-dressy men's shoe, and I
would just grab another pair of Fluevogs... only recent customer reviews call out a sharp decline in their quality.

Well-made walking shoes with repairable soles? This is kind of in line with cooking with cast iron, shaving with a straight razor, etc. I want well made comfortable walking shoes that will last for a decade with some upkeep and repair.
I'm looking to make an investment in some shoes that I can walk in all day that also look like normal shoes. Black/brown leather, no loud branding or insignias.
I have Keen shoes similar to these & love them, but Keen doesn't repair soles as I'm led to understand.
Are we now in a world where good walking shoes can't be repaired, is this a fool's errand? Not looking to exceed a couple hundred. Go!

I'll be traveling to the northeast next week and I've realized that I don't own any shoes that are remotely suitable for trapising about on the cold, potentially snowy or slushy sidewalks of Boston. When I lived there I wore my Dr. Martens everywhere and they were great, but I've since learned that they don't play nicely with my issue-prone feet, and anyway I need something that will be comfortable to wear for long periods of time and not particularly bulky, which puts most snow or combat-type boots out. I know this is kind of a silly question, but I'm really stumped as to where to start looking. So, residents of similar climes, what do you wear on your feet that keeps them relatively warm and dry but still fairly comfortable? Suggestions for specific models and brands or general types welcome.

I'm looking for a good pair of sneakers that split the difference between "casual" and "work." Mostly this is for casual Fridays at my office, when I want something cool/relaxed on my feet to go with some jeans, but my ratty Converse sneakers might come off as too informal. I like the
Vans Ludlow and
Pritchard collections, but the shoes in those links are limited edition and appear to be gone. The
newest models in those collections don't fit my aesthetic tastes all that well. Is there anything along those lines - sort of a hybrid skate sneak / dress shoe, with a playful hint at formal classiness - you can recommend?

I've hod ongoing pain for months in my right foot, and after seeing a doctor and getting x-rays and and MRI done, the best advice he had for me was to buy new shoes and hope the pain eventually goes away. My question is, what sort of shoes am I looking for? I spend about an hour each day walking between classes, work, and my car—aside from that, I'm not terribly active. I'm also on somewhat of a budget, but if I need to pay $100 to not have to limp around, I'll gladly pay.

Naturalizer Maude flats for working as a bank teller, where I stand at least half the day and constantly hop off and on my stool. When they're new, the comfort insole is perfect for my feet. However, after a year of use, I've squashed any cushioning they have and they're
killing me. What insoles will fit into a dressy ballet flat that does not have removable insoles?

I am searching for beautifully crafted, durable women’s shoes made from leather that will last for years. I know this is a tough bill to fit so I am not limiting this search to any particular kind of shoe or price range. For boots, I typically look for strong welting (Goodyear method) but this is increasingly difficult to find. I love the look of Frye’s but most seem poor quality for the money. For example, the outsole and upper are simply glued together in most models (although the engineer boots look pretty solid). For heels/dress shoes, I am interested in full-grain leather instead of the bonded or “genuine” stuff. I’ve heard good things about Fluevog and Chie Mihara, but haven’t looked into them yet. Any experiences? What other brands might have these qualities? Are there high quality men’s shoe brands out there that also make shoes for women?

My favorite pair of shoes in the entire world, this pair that there only seems to be one of in existence, are just a smidge too narrow. They're 11D, and feet would fit best in an 11E. That smidge is giving me one mean callous, but more importantly the widest part of my foot, tipped with that callous, has already worn through the leather lining and might have burst through the calfskin outer if I hadn't caught it in time. What can I do to not ruin these beautiful, expensive shoes any further?
