I need a carpet cleaner that won't break the bank. What current model do you recommend? (UK models/links only, please)

Is there anywhere in the UK that will refill empty cosmetics bottles? You used to be able to take empty bottles back to The Body Shop to be refilled from jumbo tubs behind the counter, but since they stopped I've never found anywhere else that does it.

I'd like to find a reasonably-priced shampoo and conditioner for curly, color-treated hair.

This shampoo question reminded me of something that I saw in the store the other day. I saw a Sunsilk "line" that was all in Spanish and was in a fuchsia bottle labeled "Anti-Caida", which means, roughly, "Anti-Fall".

I'm obsessed with trying different shampoos. Do you find that any of them actually do what they say, as far as making your hair shinier/straighter/less frizzy/less poufy etc?

Is there an extra gentle, natural, or super-mild hair care product that I can use to wash my hair when it needs it?

On the one hand, my hair smells (I think because I wash it everyday). On the other hand, I dont want to go bald trying to fix the problem (ie. stopping washing it everyday which I think is keeping my follicles from dying off).

I have a rambling, multi-part question regarding hair, beards in particular, and hair care products. (Short version: what should I use to wash and possibly style my beard?)

Homeless shelters/charities in DC? I have a gazillion little hotel shampoos and lotions as well as some other unused regular toiletries I'd like to get rid off. Rather than chuck them or leave them in the lobby for my neighbors, I'm thinking a shelter for women might want them. Any recommendations? Googling brings up several but I have no idea which to choose.

What are the differences between hand soap, face soap, body wash, shampoo and dish soap (among others)? Is it pure marketing BS? If I (uh, theoretically) was out of face and hand soap, could I substitute, say, shampoo in a pinch?
Yes, I understand that what with free will and all, I "could" use fruit punch or pretty much anything, but I'm talking about products that will actually function as passable replacements.

Another shower related question: Guys, what shampoo do you use? Or more specifically: what guys' shampoo smells the best?

Is there any significant difference between cheap and expensive shampoos and conditioners? This question can be extended to all sorts of personal care products, and bunches of other products I suppose, but I'm mostly interested in knowing whether you're a sucker for buying high-end shampoo.
