I'm looking to change my hair care regimen so that I can keep my hair thick and manageable as it typically is after not washing it for a few days. [more inside]
I have looked, on MeFi and elsewhere, and I still haven't found a shampoo or conditioner that will cleanse without stripping right down to the grey. More after the break. [more inside]
I made the leap and stopped shampooing my hair six weeks ago, learned how a high pH can really mess it up and have almost found my outer Farrah. Enter the apple cider vinegar rinse. Do you do this? What is the right way? My approach needs finesse. No-poo MeFippies: help me tweak my routine. [more inside]
I have become annoyed recently in that I persistently find my hair greasy. I shower and shampoo about once a day. I have tried the counter-intuitive "shower less" route but that doesn't solve the problem, but makes it worse. I often shower at night and the next morning I go to work and find my hair greasy a few hours later. It's a lot better when I shower in the morning and blow dry it, but I don't want to do that forever. For reference, my hair is highlighted blonde (and growing out the color) and I use Aveeno's shampoo and conditioner. I wash my sheets regularly. My hair is wavy and not super fine. I am white. Not sure if anything else would be relevant about my habits and/or routine...happy to answer questions or take recommendations.
Can you recommend a shampoo for a scalp with excess sebum BUT also dry, frizzy, curly hair? [more inside]
Why does my scalp go crazy if I stop shampooing for a few days? [more inside]
My hair stylist told me I should shampoo just 2 times a week, and use conditioner at least that often. I usually shampoo every morning and only occasionally use conditioner. I have two questions about this. [more inside]
Calling all chemists and haircare junkies: is it possible to add salicylic acid and/or ketoconazole into a shampoo, rather than buying off-the-shelf shampoos with these ingredients in them? If so, how do I do this? If not how do I prevent over-washed and dried out hair? [more inside]
Recommend to me the best dry shampoo! [more inside]
What are some fragrant, glycerin-free options for shampoo and conditioner? [more inside]
I am just terrible at being a lady. All the usual Beauty Stuff, stuff that it seems like everyone else was either born knowing or learned as teenagers, is a giant mystery to me. I need, like, a checklist or something for being a presentable-looking grownup. [more inside]

My favorite color depositing shampoo has been discontinued. What alternatives do I have other than dying my hair every month? [more inside]
I have a new baby and taking a nice long shower is now a thing of the past. I've been using my husband's Pert Shampoo+Conditioner but it makes my hair feel dry and doesn't de-tangle well. Is there a combined shampoo+conditioner product that will actually make my hair feel nice after I use it? Bonus points for hypoallergenic or fragrance free.
Are the salon hair care products sold online and at drug and grocery stores the same products that are sold in salons? Has anyone checked this out in a lab? [more inside]
Argh! I need a good color-restoring product for my (dyed) red hair. The products I've tried either didn't work at all or were difficult to use. My stylist suggested a toning shampoo in between salon visits but had no particular recommendations. I've tried a couple but haven't noticed any slow-down of the fading. What have you tried that worked? [more inside]
[Haircare filter] Looking for a gentle shampoo that won't irritate my scalp. I've used Aubrey Organics shampoos for decades. I like that they use simple ingredients without petroleum derivatives. But lately my scalp is getting irritated. Looking for simple shampoo that is gentle, but cleans well. I don't like synthetic fragrance. A light essential oil scent is ok. I'm looking for a formula with few ingredients. A long list of botanicals will likely include something I'm sensitive to. My skin doesn't tolerate shea butter. My hair is normal to oily.
I had one of those keratin/chocolate hair treatments done. What shampoo should I use now? [more inside]
Please help me replace my favorite shampoo (Aveda's Sap Moss), which is now discontinued. Have you tried their replacement line (Dry Remedy)? Have you found something better? [more inside]

There's this soap that I really like and leaves my hair glowing and feeling very clean. I would like to "melt" the soaps into a bottle so I can use it as proper shampoo, especially when I go to the gym. Does anyone know how this can be done?
What is the most "stripping", powerfully cleansing shampoo out there? Prell isn't enough. I need something that can remove a tablespoon of oil from a head of medium-length hair. [more inside]
Is there any shampoo + conditioner product that will help my hair not be so crappy after swimming? [more inside]
My scalp seems to react badly to most shampoos. I've only been able to use one brand (Pantene) for a while now. Help me figure out why/what to do? [more inside]

This shampoo question reminded me of something that I saw in the store the other day. I saw a Sunsilk "line" that was all in Spanish and was in a fuchsia bottle labeled "Anti-Caida", which means, roughly, "Anti-Fall". [more inside]
Is there an extra gentle, natural, or super-mild hair care product that I can use to wash my hair when it needs it? [more inside]

On the one hand, my hair smells (I think because I wash it everyday). On the other hand, I dont want to go bald trying to fix the problem (ie. stopping washing it everyday which I think is keeping my follicles from dying off). [more inside]
If you take two showers a day, should you use both shampoo and conditioner both times? [more inside]
I have a rambling, multi-part question regarding hair, beards in particular, and hair care products. (Short version: what should I use to wash and possibly style my beard?) [more inside]
