Jeep Cherokee is shaking and making loud noises

2000 Jeep Cheroke Classic (92,000 miles) makes loud rumbling and shaking sound after starting, but only if it had been running shortly before starting. Also occurs very sporadically while idling. If I run the vehicle, drive around for a bit, park it, turn it off, and then turn it back on within 15 minutes or so, the car will start fine but will then a pretty loud rumbling sound and will shake. The shake is noticeable but easily drivable while doing it. It goes away within a minute of driving, usually within 15 seconds.

If you turn it off while it's doing its shaking/rumbling thing, and then turn it back on, it will occasionally not do it.

All of this is pretty consistent.

Inconsistently, it will also do it randomly while idling. Very sporadic.

Up until about two weeks ago, it had the same problem but it was much quieter and hardly registered as a major problem. Not so much now, but I have no idea what would cause it.

Best weight loss shakes

What are the best/healthiest weight loss shakes and where to purchase online? I know that weight loss programs like Weight Watchers can be very successful, but for various reasons, right now I'd like to use meal replacement shakes for either most or all of my daily meals. Is there a reasonably healthy way to do this? What should I be looking for in a meal replacement shake? Can you recommend a particular brand?

I've heard good things about Optifast, but I haven't had an easy time finding it to purchase. Is it actually better in some way than other shakes?

What are your favorite post workout shakes?

What are your favorite post workout shakes? Looking for tasty recipes, my choco banana shake is getting played out. Any and all ingredients accepted. High calorie or low calorie (I do prefer more filling shakes). I typically throw in milk, choco whey, and banana into a blender immediately after my morning workout. What are a list of ingredients to keep on hand for adding some variety to my shakes?

I did see the old thread http://ask.metafilter.com/49476/Lets-have-your-recipes-for-lowcalorie-protein-shakes, but this did not get many replies. Hoping for some new ones.

It doesn't actually taste like shamrocks. . .

How would you describe the taste of a shamrock shake? I don't need to know what's in it, just a better way to describe it than 'minty, but not your normal mint flavor'. Any ideas? Am I just imagining things because it's green, and it's just a plain vanilla flavor?

What was that really loud boom just now in Santa Cruz, CA?

I just heard a loud boom, and felt a shockwave rattle my trailer here in Santa Cruz, CA. My neighbors felt it too and were very curious. Could it have been an earthquake? I live on campus at UCSC. The boom was at appx. 9:19 AM, March 3rd 2009.

According to google/USGS:

http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUS315&=&q=earthquake+santa+cruz&btnG=Google+Search

it wasnt an earthquake or hasn't been reported yet.

My question is:
How can I find out what made this quite loud boom and shockwave?

Is it still a good time to learn how to Shake ?

Is learning Shake, the visual effect software, still worth the trouble since Apple dropped it or should i learn to use a different package ? I am learning to do compositing and motion graphics. Right now i'm playing with after effects. It's a very good software but it seems that a lot of vfx houses are using node based interface packages to do their stuff. I'd like to learn to navigate in such a software.
Shake is one of those package and it seems to be the most widely used.
My problem is that, Shake is not supported by Apple anymore.
They're planning on releasing a new thing next year called Phenomenon. Since it's an Apple product, nobody knows anything about it yet, it could be a new and improved Shake, it could also be a dumbed down version to appeal to a larger market.
Should i still put the time and money to train on Shake or should i move to another software (Nuke ?) or should i just wait for the release of Phenomenon ?

Whole Lot of Shaking Going On. But only right before bed. And not in the fun way.

So, sometimes, right before I fall asleep, when I'm laying down in my bed, I'll feel like there's an earthquake. Not a big one. But SOMETHING. What's going on? Now I live in California. So I checked the USGS and there's, they say, no more activity than usual.

The shaking happens infrequently. Like 5 times a year. MAYBE. But still, it's a little unsettling. It's like little shaking and a little rocking. And, according to girls that have been in my bed at the time, I'm the only one who can feel it.

Maybe I'm just sensitive to earthquakes. Or maybe this is my version of the falling sensation right before you fall asleep. But I'd love to know if there's any medical info on this. Maybe it's a syndrome. Like "Beddy Bye Shake and Bake" or something. So am I the earth sensitive guy from Phenomenon, is it something serious or is this something unusual but harmless like "photoelectric sneeze response" ?

Lets have your recipes for low-calorie protein shakes!

Lets have your recipes for low-calorie(*) protein shakes! So I'm actively losing weight by scaling back on calories. This is good.

I'm mixing in(ugh) a low-calorie protein shake for breakfast. I'm starting to tire of the 8oz 2% milk, 1 scoop chocolate whey protein + the banana shake. That thoroughly fills me up and is under 300 calories(**).

I have chocolate and vanilla protein powder at my disposal. Sometimes I mix in a little bit of Adams peanut butter but that adds another 100 calories (but its sooooo yummy!).

I'm also thinking of trying a protein shake for lunch or at least when I get hungry during the middle of the day.

Sooooo, the hive, what are some other options that have worked for you? (Approximate) calorie counts would be helpful.

* and **: Yes, I said low calorie; no I dont know if 300 calories is considered low-calorie or not. I do know that this regimen is working for me in terms of weight-loss. I am also a rather active cyclist/basketball player(albeit heavy). I'm trying to consume ~2000 calories/day. Sometimes I require additional calories because I'm just famished from riding 3 hours the day before. hope this helps.

Shake dog shake

Why do dogs shake out? My dog shakes out in many situations. Obviously, he shakes out when he gets wet and wants to dry off. He also shakes out when he wakes up from sleep, recovers from a small fall, and recovers from rough play. What purpose does shaking out have in the latter situations? I should note that he is a short-hair, so rearranging his hair style is probably not the answer.

I vaguely recall reading in the past that if a dog doesn't shake out when he wakes up, it is a sign of ill health. Is that true? If so, why?

Are post work out shakes and twistched normal?

After a semi hard run or other cardio / muscular endurance excerise I sometimes get the shakes, or muscle twitchs... and not in the muscles you would expect. What would cause this? I rowed alot in HS and College (did pretty well with it actually) and often after a REALLY hard erg work out the tip of my nose would tingle... which I could never figure out why. Also after my run tonight (2.6 miles in about 24 minutes) my hands shook (ever so slightly) while holding my drinking cup.. and i got an odd muscle twitch in my lip..

could this be a sign of something physically wrong (i've always been pretty active) or just .. my quirky anotomy?
