Whenever we transfer large numbers of files (500+) over sftp, our Ubuntu servers freak out. This includes everything from disconnecting the current sftp sessions to nearly taking down the Apache sites running on them. Are there any server or client settings we should be taking a look at? Ubuntufilter: Looking for a recommended FTP program on Ubuntu: must cope with SFTP, must have an 'edit' button to allow me to edit files on the remote server. A bit like WinSCP (for the WIndows) or Cyberduck (for Mac).

What is your fav. text editing OS X application? I need syntax highlighting for as many languages as possible, S/FTP, among most other common funtions (line numbering, block un/commenting, block indentation, etc). The best on the PC in my opinion is UltraEdit, nothing i've used on the Mac comes close. I'm currently using TextWrangler but I miss much of what UltraEdit offers. Any suggestions?

I'd like to automate some sort of synchronize process to run every time I start/close a separate application in Windows. It should download a data file on launch and upload after exiting, without having to think about it. Is there any easy way to do this? Preferably using SFTP or another secure method.
