How do i deal with my boyfriends distance and communication issues?

My boyfriend cancels so often on our dates, and we haven't had sex even though we have been together for half a year, which makes me think he could have a sexual problem or is afraid of getting close to me. Details inside. [more inside]

How To Talk About Sex

Occasionally, I bring up the subject of sex with my partner, and I always get nowhere. Sex has never been something that we've really talked about. We had those first few conversations when we met several years ago: disclosures of risks, general preferences, expectations for monogamy, etc. and from there we just let it develop naturally. We need to talk about it because our sex life isn't meeting my needs, and I've asked to talk about it, but I still don't know how to talk about it, and I'm afraid this is just going to become another in a string of failed attempts to talk about sex. How to get boyfriend to doctor r.e. impotence?

I've been hanging out with my boyfriend for around 7 months (I'm female). He's really sweet, and we get along really well. I stay at his place a couple of times a week (more or less) and on weekends. His place only, since he lives alone and near things, and I live with roommates and further away from stuff. We're both in our 40s. I was single for an incredibly long time before hooking up with him (although occasionally having sex with various casual hookups), he's been in and out of relationships pretty regularly. We sleep together and spoon all night, sometimes he's all over me, and vice versa, and we kiss and cuddle an awful lot. But no sex. None. [more inside]

How can I tell my boyfriend that those things I thought were orgasms weren't?

My boyfriend and I met when I was very young and inexperienced, and we've been together for almost 10 years now. I've always enjoyed our sex life, especially my ability to have multiple orgasms. But wait. Now that I'm older and a bit more in touch with myself, so to speak, I've realized I hadn't really been having orgasms at all. Because I'm just starting to now. My boyfriend thinks he's losing his skills because I'm having one orgasm with him, if at all, and I've skirted around talking about it by saying that it's just different now. We're really open with each other and we talk about everything honestly, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to gently broach this topic since I didn't when I first became aware of it. How can I share the truth and preserve his ego?
