I need recommendations for a all in one desktop or study laptop that can run the Adobe Suite (not the newest in the creative cloud) for a new proposed Digital Arts course.
These would purely need to run Photoshop, Illustrator - some sort of video editing program, and potentially a light game design program. (Doesn't need to be Flash)
I know about different specs needed but am lost how to find what would work best and for 32+ students in one classroom.
This would be a huge investment for the High School so if I can quote under 30,000 for all the new technology it would be more likely considered. [more inside]

Is there a mod for my Samsung BluRay player that will let me steam everything, not just the Pandora/Blockbuster/Netflix/YouTube that it streams? It's connected wirelessly to the web, can it be changed to point to another URL?

Set designers, cinematographers, hobbyists, LARP people, carpenters, welders, and geeks: I need tips and tricks for building a one-person "space shuttle" out of cheap materials. It's for an independent HD video sci-fi short, and I would like to build it myself. Budget is $600–$1500 for materials and in-store material cutting/processing. [more inside]

We wanted to get comments from anyone who has had their house used as a set for movies, commercials, etc.
We are considering doing this with our house.
What was your experience? Would you do it again?
How did you do it? I see sites like this:
that list your house.

I'd like to learn about SVM, HMM and wavelet algorithms in their usage in bioinformatics. I have a somewhat rudimentary understanding of the underlying mathematics from Wikipedia and a couple other sources, but I find that a concrete demonstration of their application fleshes it out.
Are there texts, software packages (preferably free) or papers you'd recommend that: 1) includes good starter problem sets, or; 2) demonstrates how these techniques are used in research applications (beyond "we used xyz

Help, Help !! If anyone has experience with Dreamweaver and setting up the “Site Definition” settings; either basic or advanced mode for “Remote Info” I desperately need your advice and it would be very much appreciated. Runbox is my web host and I use “cPannel” to manage my web files. I can’t figure out what settings to use for “FTP access”. What would my “FTP host” be and what should I put in there this field? To be honest, I’m not quite sure what a FTP is although to use Dreamweaver’s functions, I need to set this up and have not been successful. Next question; Am I correct in saying the “Host Directory” would be in the “public_html” folder in cPannel that all my web page files are located? Any advice would be appreciated. I’ve tried multiple times and days to set this up, but I must be doing something wrong. Thank you in advance for your cooperation…Orlin

Some strange problem with my cable TV. I was connecting a new Sylvania DVR/VCR unit in my bedroom. I used to have a Sony DVD/VCR in that same place and the cable reception used to be just fine. First thing I noticed after attaching the new unit is that the signal quality is very poor. But anyway then I come down to living room which has the Comcast's digital set top box connected to the wall outlet. I noticed there was no signal on TV and box was displaying a 'this channel would be available soon' message. Usually that means some kind of bad or no connection. Before I went up to the bedroom everything was running fine. Did plugging in the DVR/VCR unit blow the cable circuit ? [more inside]
