Has anybody had experience with Charter Communications
(in western Massachusetts, if that makes a difference)? My wife and I are moving to Hadley
in a couple of weeks and are thinking of taking advantage of Charter's bundle (available through the end of the month) of basic cable + high-speed internet + phone service (unlimited calling in US) for $69.97/mo. This seems like a good deal. Anybody have experience with them? And if you live in the Pioneer Valley, how worried should we be about the likelihood of an electricity failure disrupting our phone service?

I'm looking for a good DVD duplication service where I can ship them the master and art and they ship me my product. Small run (50) with printed design on DVD in plain white sleeve. Any recommendations based on your own satisfactory results with a service?

I purchased a service to deliver traffic to one of my web sites. I know it reeks of scam, but I was curious. That's beside the point.
The terms of service don't state anything about the timeframe in which that traffic will be delivered. It's come in dribs and drabs (then entire purchase would take years, literally, to be delivered). And their stats do not match mine. Every single day shows them delivering more traffic than my whole site gets.
That said, I have two questions.
1) What is the legal basis for timely delivery of such a service, given that timeliness is not discussed in their terms at all. There ought to be a reasonable assumption of how long they have to perform their service, right?
2) Since legal action is not a reasonable option (it would cost more to get a refund than the refund is worth), what are some ideas for completely legal ways I could put a spotlight on this company's potentially fraudulent but certainly terrible service?

waiter income tax question. Its common practice for waiters to "tip out" a certain portion of their money every shift to support persons. This might not seem like much, but for career waiters, this means an extra $2000+
Is this a deductible employee expense in the eyes of John Q. Tax?

Can this laptop be saved? eMachines M2105 bought refurbished from Tiger Direct outlet near Toronto two years ago (90 day warranty). Recently the power cord developed the "jiggle it to make it work" disease. Only it turns out that it wasn't the cord but the jack inside the computer that had the problem. Now the jack is completely loose from whatever it had been attached to and so the computer doesn't go. While online third-party parts dealers seem to have jacks for just about any other eMachines laptop, no-one seems to have this one. And the official eMachines parts supplier says I need to replace the mainboard (which costs about two-thirds of what I paid for the laptop for the part alone). [more inside]

Do they not kick in if your call starts before 9pm? I am a new Cingular subscriber (yeah, I know, the rollover minutes seduced me), and I was shocked to see a 58 minute call logged to my daytime minutes. The call had begun at 8:53 and I assumed that logically at 9:00 my nighttime minutes would kick in. Naturally, this is not the case and I ate up 1/7th of my total monthly anytime minutes on this one call. Do other wireless carriers keep you on daytime minutes for calls that begin before 9 and extend on past 9? [more inside]

Forced for the summer to access the Internet through dial-up I wonder what the least expensive, least annoying, fastest option. I currently use NetZero which is free (three months which are almost up), fairly fast, but very annoying with video ads and hijacking my preferred browser i.e. making IE my preferred bowser every time I dial-up. I've used AOL in the past but find it very, very annoying. Any recommendations?

For theatre (and other) projects, I sometimes need music that I can't find on CD. Is there a service that lets you email sheet music to a musician, who then a musician records the song and sends it back to you as an mp3? I'm looking instrumental music -- no vocals. Just a piano/keyboard is generally fine. [more inside]

Billboards around town offer the service of "Any (lab) test." The companies offering the service vary, but they all include the word "lab" in parentheses. Why the consistent parenthetical? The service wouldn't really make sense without the parentheses, would it?

I need your help. I'm a licensed acupuncturist and a herbalist. I have been involved in many out reach programs in the past. My goal was to reach out to as many immigrant groups with no to low health insurance coverage and educating them of available resources. The unique experience came working with the Korean community in New York City. This group tends to have such a high stomach cancer rate and about 70% of the patient population I came in contact with tested positive for H. pylori. The standard of treatment for H. pylori is course of antibiotic drugs. I don't know if you guys are aware but if you don't have health insurance to cover for these meds, it cost about $300 out of pocket expense.
So, my thing is this - I wanted to set up a research program using simple herbs that are readily available and in low cost. I know nothing about setting up a research program. What do I need to do and who do I need to talk to? Any advice is greatly appreciated.
