I have a really good idea for an online...website thing. Involving user submission. I don't know anything about programming or what-all. Help me figure out what tools I need to create this! [more inside]

Are there any sites with ideas for new web services? I'm in an entrepreneurial slump and ideas are a dime a dozen--so where are all the ideas? Trying to find inspiration for creating a new consumer web service. [more inside]

(Asking on behalf of my wife) I'm looking for an online relational database service. My wife's business has been using DabbleDB, which is a fine service, but since the company was acquired by Twitter for unrelated technology, the future of DabbleDB is uncertain at best. So far Zoho Creator seems like the best alternative, but it's much less appealing than DabbleDB. I've looked at quite a few others, none of which seem ready for prime time. Is there some other online database service that we should be looking at?

What tools do Peace Corps (or similar) volunteers use to communicate their experiences in the field? I'm especially looking for creative uses of digital/web communication tools: Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, blogs, etc.. Bonus points for any good examples. Thanks!

What are your absolute favorite application service providers and web apps right now? Any and all uses, don't hold back (event calendars, e-commerce, community, anything you find useful or cool!). Also, know of any good sites with comparison reviews? [more inside]

I need a very simple stock quote web service that I can get at programatically. Everything I've found is either non-real time ("delayed 10 minutes") or not programatically available (i.e. an embedded java webpage that only works in IE.) I'd even screen scrape if they let me. I will obviously pay for this service. I don't need charts or anything fancy beyond real time data for any of the major exchanges (I'm not picky.)

Is there any web-based service that will image (render) a webpage using specific rendering engines, and then email or display the result? I'm developing on a Mac, and experiencing some weird Explorer 6 CSS problems, and don't have a PC handy to troubleshoot.

I am running a free Web-based service for friends and acquaintances. Lately, the volume on this service has been growing greatly. The next step is to move the service to a professional host. I am thinking of putting a paypal donation button on the site to help pay for it. Are there any legal or tax issues I need to worry about? Do I need a business license? What if I want to start selling Cafe Press items or running Google ads? I am located in the USA.

Webhosting uptime. What's reasonable to expect from at $10/month hosting package? I'm hosted by netacore and by my count, my domain has been down about six times this year, for an average of about a day at a time. [more inside]

A family member of mine wants to set up a simple site for his home business - schedules of classes, some photographs, contact information, links, etc., and I have suggested that he use Typepad, which I use for a number of projects. However I think he'd prefer a non-weblog format, which leads me to my question: are there combined hosting/construction tools out there, like some of these weblog services, that have a good and very easy-to-use back-end, lots of design/format choices, but are more focused around a more heirarchically structured, top-down site structure?

Two XP questions in a row! Does anybody know how to remove the "Windows cannot open this file" dialog box that offers a web service? I'd like this to act like it did in previous versions of Windows, just going directly to the "Choose the program you want to use to open this file" dialog. Google has failed me.

I've been asked to redesign a medium-sized corp (60 employees) web site. The current host is dreadful and I want to switch it to Dreamhost, who I use for all my small clients without problem. How will moving their web site/domain to a different host affect their email? [MI] [more inside]
