Hi, I will be living in Mumbai for 11 weeks next summer. I have an unlocked iPhone 3G. What is my best bet in terms of carrier and plan for the cheapest and most reliable data access? I plan to do local calls over the cell phone voice network and international calls via Skype on the iPhone. Thanks in advance!

What is the best flat calling rate pan-European GSM SIM card for temporary use? Two people with iPhone 2G (iPhone1,1) quad band unlocked phones will be in Europe for one month. We want voice and SMS only, not GPRS data, and the ability to add credit to either phone by scratch cards... [more inside]

Cellular reception is horrible in my area. I get at least 2 dropped calls during my commute to work, and every cellphone I've used is generally worthless indoors. What's the best way to pester my service provider into fixing this? [more inside]

Has anybody had experience with Charter Communications (in western Massachusetts, if that makes a difference)? My wife and I are moving to Hadley in a couple of weeks and are thinking of taking advantage of Charter's bundle (available through the end of the month) of basic cable + high-speed internet + phone service (unlimited calling in US) for $69.97/mo. This seems like a good deal. Anybody have experience with them? And if you live in the Pioneer Valley, how worried should we be about the likelihood of an electricity failure disrupting our phone service?

Do they not kick in if your call starts before 9pm? I am a new Cingular subscriber (yeah, I know, the rollover minutes seduced me), and I was shocked to see a 58 minute call logged to my daytime minutes. The call had begun at 8:53 and I assumed that logically at 9:00 my nighttime minutes would kick in. Naturally, this is not the case and I ate up 1/7th of my total monthly anytime minutes on this one call. Do other wireless carriers keep you on daytime minutes for calls that begin before 9 and extend on past 9? [more inside]

My boss is heading to Nepal in a week and wants to stay connected to the USA. He's interested in purchasing -- or renting? -- a satellite phone. Any recommendations for providers, and comments on service & clarity would be appreciated.
