I have an application installed on my PC at work that needs to connect to the internet through our ISA Server. The problem it has is that it can't connect directly unless I put in proxy settings. The problem that I have is that the proxy setting is just one long URL with no username or password. How can I get this application to connect? [more inside]

Can anyone help me with this? Firefox suddenly won't connect to anything....
I keep getting the following:
The proxy server is refusing connections
Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
* Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
* Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is
working.
Any help would be mucho appreciated!

I use a laptop at work, where all web traffic goes through a proxy server and is logged. I don't have a problem with that. If I don't change my configuration in Firefox when I am back home, and keep the routing through that proxy server, are they still logging my activity even though I am accessing the internet on my home network?

I recently setup a wireless/wired network for a hotel to be used by
about 75 guests. It was simply a matter of daisy chaining a few
Netgear switches (JFS516) from the ISP's DSL modem/router and then
connecting a few Netgear Access points (WG602) with alternating
channels on each floor (one per floor). DHCP is controlled by the
router. Everything worked great. However, now the hotel has
requested that the network be upgraded to include a page that intercepts all internet requests and I'm looking for tips on how to do that? [more inside]

What is the easiest way, in Windows, to sniff the HTTP (and HTTPS) requests and responses back from the server for an application that won't let you tell it to use a proxy? [more inside]

I'm on a foreign network (traveling for work) and more than half the websites I try to load (any browser) end up at a dodgy looking place called 'Med Network' (viagra, etc). [little MI]

I'm trying to get my application (VB, but that doesn't matter) to connect to the internet and support proxy servers that require a username and password. The former is easy, the latter not. What I'm doing is sending Proxy-Authorization: Basic [authentication] in the header (where [authentication] is "username:password" base64 encoded) with each request. However the proxy server keeps reporting error 407 (authentication required). I've read the RFC's, I've read google groups but I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Any ideas?
