I watched Nina Conti: A Ventriloquist's Story - Her Master's Voice yesterday and it was so amazing I forgot how long it's been since I saw a really good documentary. I've watched everything Herzog has done in the past 6-7, Being Elmo, Carl Sagan's Cosmos, the 7 Up films and Jarvis Cocker's Outsider Art series. What are your favourite documentary films/series? (except nature docs? I can never get into them). I'm happy to watch films from any english-speaking country - but will also give it a go if they're subtitled.

I'm interested in watching more documentaries or miniseries about the fashion/clothing industry. Three I've rented recently were Valentino:The Last Emperor, The September Issue, and Signé Chanel. I especially enjoyed the last two as they really showed a lot behind the scenes about how stuff is made (both the media and the couture dressmaking sides).

My non-reader boyfriend enjoys Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire because he easily became so invested in the characters. He doesn't care so much about literary value; he just wants characters that he can care about and journey with, and when they feel grief or happiness, he wants to mourn for them or celebrate with them. What should he read next?

I'm trying to remember an HBO series that was mentioned on AskMe recently. It lasted for only one season, and had to do with romantic relationships and marriages (I think) and was a character-study sort of show. Help?

Has anyone come across a 4-cassette series released by McDonalds in 1987? The series was called "Rockin' Gold". Two of the cassettes were called Lovin' Gold and Summer Classics. If you can help me locate a listing of the tracks (oldies like Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow) then I can reconstruct this great playlist. Thanks!

Trying to remember the name of a TV series program that I watched in the late 1980s that in one episode on digital information predicted the rise of the electronic book. There was a male host who led the show, which was an examination of new technologies. In the particular episode I am looking for, he recounted an idea that books in the future would be distributed from something like an ATM machine where you would insert a card onto which the book would be downloaded. If it helps, I remember he stood at some kind of podium during the broadcasts that had like an acrylic/lucite egg-shaped glowing top--random detail, but these are often what jog people's memory.

I'm trying to remember a web-video series that was mentioned on the blue a couple of times in the last year or two. All I can remember is that they were hosted by a woman (maybe light brown/blond hair...?) who was giving a funny/feminist take on various things in pop culture. Does that ring a bell with anyone? I think maybe one of the topics she talked about was yogurt commercials aimed at women. I know, not much to go on!

Mathfilter: In Gelfand's exceptional

I bought a new computer (stalkers may check out my previous 'asks') running 64 bit windows 7, and I'd like it to connect to my HP 6840 wireless printer; that is, I need an appropriate driver. HP's website says that windows 7, has the driver built in and all I have to do is connect the printer via usb cable and stand back. Well, I tried that and several other things but my Windows 7 home, even after running update, has no driver for my printer (which it correctly identifies). HP tech support is of no help, merely repeating the same advice as the web sites I've already seen. I know such a driver exists because other people have solved this problem. How can I get it?

What are some great, informative TV series? Carl Sagan's Cosmos, Ken Burns's Jazz, Matthew Colling's This Is Modern Art, Robert Winston's The Human Body--what else is in this vein? I'd much rather a recommendation of a series, as opposed to a single one-off documentary. What should I watch that is captivating and teaches me something?

I am trying to find a specific episode of House (
Link), or more specifically a quote from one of the episodes. I am unsure at this stage if the quote is even from the House series since I can't find it. I was hoping you guys could help.
The scene I remember is in a hospital room towards the end of the episode where the patient is in the hospital bed, unconscious, and their partner is standing next to the bed. One of the doctors then remark something to which the patient's partner replies that in a relationship the one person always loves the other a bit more. I would really like to get the exact quote.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Asking for a friend: With the use of Fourier series, I'm trying to solve an ODE of the form L*y'' + R*y' + y/C = r(x), where r(x) = 1 - x^2 for |x| <= 1, i.e. has a period of 2. To do so I need to represent 1 - x^2 as a Fourier series. In doing so I have to integrate e^(-n * i * pi * x), but I've reached a stumbling block.
