We're moving in a month or so and beginning to look at rental houses in Seattle. I'm a bit rusty, but what is the general procedure for establishing the person you're speaking with is the actual home owner and everything is on the up-and-up? [more inside]

I am a freelance video editor/assistant editor working in advertising in New York City. Career-wise I am doing pretty well and working consistently, but I have recently been thinking of relocating to Seattle. Is there enough post-production work in the Seattle area to keep me fed? [more inside]
We are moving to Seattle in August. I'm looking for recommendations for "quintessentially Seattle" attire to get my husband for his birthday. [more inside]
My son is great at pogoing. He's outgrown his last pogo stick, the Flybar Foam Master -- he's tall and the handle is too low for him to jump comfortably. He tried the Flybar Super Pogo but it left him with bruises on his knees (and mine, as well, from the little I did on it). Is there some great pogo stick out there we should know about? If there's some pogo superstore in the Seattle area we could go to, that also would be great.
We're looking to switch to a new CSA this year, after a few years of using Nash's Organic Produce. Looking for recommendations, and reviews of a few specific ones that we're interested in. Snowflakes inside! [more inside]
What are some fun things I can do in Seattle tonight/Friday/this weekend by myself, ideally without being on my feet the whole time? [more inside]
I'd like to take up trail running, or in my case, probably trail-light jogging. I am not a runner, I have never been a runner, I have always hated running and avoided it. What do I need to know? [more inside]
My cousin is getting married in a couple of weeks on the east coast. I'm traveling there from Seattle. Both bride and groom (my cousin is the groom, if that matters) are active musicians in the Boston scene. I don't know them very well. They're in their mid 30s and were impressionable teenagers when grunge was just becoming an enormous deal. I was thinking they might appreciate a small wedding gift that had something to do with Seattle's musical history, but I myself am not very familiar with it all, with what's actually cool and what's just tourist junk. My budget is less than $50 (less would be better) and I need to be able to fit it in my suitcase and have it be modest looking at the wedding itself. My cousin plays guitar, drums, is a lead singer, and writes lyrics as well as music. His genre, as far as I can tell, goes around a central pillar of "rock". I'm looking for a token kind of gift. They have a registry but also stipulate they don't need or require gifts multiple times, it's going to be a super small wedding and I'm not sure I'm even going to be at the ceremony itself. Just something that will make them go "cool! I never would have asked for this but it's a neat thing to have!" Do you have any ideas?

I want to get a soda charge holder today. This place is in Seattle but not open today. I want to get it in person because I'm not sure the measurements are the same. I have an older iSi soda siphon and want to bring it in to make sure the charge holder fits. Can anyone think of a place in Seattle that sells seltzer bottle parts or even new seltzer bottles and is open today?
My wife and I rent a house in Seattle and our 12-month lease ended in February. We're now month to month. The issue is, we paid the last months rent when we signed the lease... then also paid rent the last month of our lease. [more inside]
I had a failed root canal (my second!) and need an endodontist recommendation. I'm looking for a highly-meticulous specialist who will communicate thoroughly with me and won't treat me like an idiot. [more inside]
My wife and I are considering moving to Snohomish (county), WA for work. She recently got a postgraduate degree in Library Science and is having trouble finding work where we currently live on the East coast (too many qualified people, too few jobs of the sort she's looking for). Pertinent details: I'm white, my wife is black, and we currently live and work in a very racially diverse urban area where couples like us are a common sight. We currently have no children but plan on starting a family in the next few years. [more inside]
We are considering relocating to the Seattle area from Chicago after living here for 4-5 years. What should we know beforehand? [more inside]

I need to find an entry level job in the Seattle area. My resume looks like sludge and I need at least half my rent at the end of this month. I'm a smart friendly drug free person who's punctual and hates to leave work unfinished, but I'm also an incredibly inexperienced introvert who doesn't drive and is currently anxious. I need financial security. What do I do and where can I go to get a workable job ASAP? [more inside]
Overall, Seattle is very dog-friendly with lots of off-leash parks, stores and even dog-friendly restaurants. Some restaurants are known to be dog-friendly but most won't allow dogs. Their response is always directed at King County Health Code. I can't find anything in the Health Code besides rules for Service Animals. What decision do restaurant owners make when deciding that their restaurant is dog-friendly? Do they pay fines and just accept that as part of doing business? Is there a little-known regulation? Are they just counting on few inspections? Wondering about Seattle but if it's the same in your area, speak up. Thanks.

Every year for the Super Bowl we cook food from wherever the teams are from. What should we make from Denver or Seattle? The Wikipedia page for Pacific Northwest cuisine suggests "fresh food", which isn't really what we are looking for; all we can think of for Denver is Denver omelettes. What's your "signature dish"? I'm from the UK, and I've got a work trip coming up to Seattle and LA. Most of that time is going to be spent doing work stuff (naturally), but I've got a free Saturday night and Sunday in Seattle and a free Saturday and Sunday morning in LA (staying in Pasadena). What should I do with my Seattle and LA/Pasadena weekends? More details under the cut. [more inside]
I'm looking for a career counselor in the Seattle area, one with experience helping women returning to the workforce. I want someone to help me long-term with moving into a career I can love, probably at a nonprofit. Recommendations?
My partner and I are considering a move to Seattle from NYC and taking a brief trip there (arriving Saturday and leaving Tuesday) to discern how we'd like it. I've only been to Seattle once, years ago for just a few days. I'm rather attached to New York living, but want to keep an open mind. Any advice on how to most efficiently ascertain how we'd like living there? Sights to see? Factors to consider? [more inside]

I moved (again), to the Seattle area, and am now without a good butcher (again). Can anyone recommend a good butcher in Seattle's Eastside (e.g. Redmond/Bellevue)? I cook pretty seriously, so ideally I'd like a place that has high quality meats, is knowledgeable enough to answer questions, can deal with custom or unusual orders, that kind of thing.
We just decided to drive from SF to Seattle via Portland for about a week. What are some fun family things to do? Places to eat? Places to stay? Snowflake details inside. [more inside]
I make about $46,000 in Seattle, WA. Monthly take-home pay, excluding overtime which automatically goes into a savings account, is $2,800. I have no debts and no significant non-optional recurring expenses. At some point in the next few months, I will have about $150,000 in cash after splitting the equity in a home that is being sold. Assuming that I can put that amount toward a down payment, can I afford a mortgage? Before I contact my lender, is it even wise for me to take one out? I've been looking at a few suitable homes in North Seattle priced at or below $275,000. [more inside]
I'm looking for a merchant in NYC who sells a good selection of French sparkling hard dry ciders (from Normandy and Brittany). Also great if said merchant has more diverse hard cider options (UK or Scandinavian etc.) [more inside]
Now that the deep dark winter is upon Seattle, I'm looking for suggestions of where the best nighttime running is. Specifically, I'm looking for 400m tracks that are (1) open to the public and (2) lit at night. I'd also be interested in hearing about good streets or trails to run on that are well-lit (or even semi-lit) and not too sketchy. [more inside]

Here are more details about what I am looking to find: [more inside]
Yes, I can Google, and I see there are a lot of websites for casting calls out there. Some of the more polished ones charge for making posts. I don't mind paying to post an ad. But which websites have a lot of actors looking at them and are likely to get results? My production is in Seattle. [more inside]
A friend's 13 yo son has been having serious mental and behavioral problems and they haven't fully figured out why. They discovered by accident (shared electronics) that he is now identifying as bi and has expressed romantic interest in another guy his age. I'm also queer but I'm not a parent (and I grew up before the internet gave me access to Dan Savage, in a very different cultural climate). I totally know how hard it is to be a GLBTQ teenager and want to help them alleviate as much of the sexual identity stress on him as possible/appropriate. What do you feel are the best resources or advice for a parent of a gay teenager with mental health issues? [more inside]
Hi! I recently moved to Bellevue, WA. I am in need of a psychiatrist who also practice talk therapy. If anyone knows of any such doctors, please share... Thank you! :)
I have accepted a job in Auburn, WA and need to relocate to the Seattle area within the next month. What are some good neighborhoods to look for rentals for a late-20s couple (no kids)? We are hoping to stay under $1600 for a 2-bedroom, preferring a townhouse or small house over an apartment. We need to be somewhat central since my husband will be looking for a job and would potentially need to commute in a different direction. [more inside]
