Looking for a good 1-night getaway that involves some hiking. Car camping or staying in a cozy inn would be great. Willing to drive 2-2.5 hours from Seattle. We wanted to do something in the Cascades but I fear the fires. Maybe North peninsula? Looking for ideas. [more inside]
My kids (3 & 5) both love to hear about space and space travel. But living in Seattle means they rarely see any stars. In the spring and summer it's light past their bedtime. In the fall and winter it's often cloudy, and when it isn't, there's tons of light pollution. I want to take them on a trip where they can see the night sky in all its glory. [more inside]

I'm thinking about letting my almost 5 year old stay up to see some fireworks on Thursday. What's a good place to see them that doesn't involve being stuck in traffic or having to camp out all day? [more inside]

Are there any credit unions that offer Health Saving Accounts (HSA's) to people who live in Seattle? It doesn't look like it's offered by any of the big ones (BECU, Watermark, Verity, Seattle Metropolitan). I'm not happy with HSABank's lack of online bill pay and want to support CU's in any case.
Trying to figure out where to watch the super bowl this afternoon. I'm in North Seattle. Any recommendations for bars where I can have a little unironic enjoyment of the game without getting beer spilled on me? [more inside]
Where the heck can I go to try out a serious ergonomic office chair in Seattle (e.g. Steelcase Leap, Aeron, etc.) on a weekend? [more inside]
My son loves little trains! We took him to the model railroad exhibition last winter and he was completely entranced. He's only 2 so heavy museums with lots of stationary artifacts aren't so interesting to him -- he wants to see things moving! But we don't have the space (or frankly the inclination) to maintain a model railroad in our home. Is there a place in or near Seattle where we can see model railroads year-round?
