I'd like to buy a Moroccan pouf for my new livingroom but I'd rather not order one from Etsy if I can get one in person. I live in Seattle and would love to know if there are any shops around here where I might find such a thing - especially if you have actually seen one there and aren't just speculating. [more inside]
Could you recommend a good real estate agent who really knows the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle? The Mr and I have rented in Ballard for 5 years and we want to stay here when we buy a home. We've run the numbers and we can afford it (now), but since there is so much subdivision and new construction, we want someone who's really got their finger on the pulse and can almost see the future. We are friends with a family that has a 6-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl. I was thinking it might be nice to give them an experience-based gift this year instead of stuff. What are some good things that we can do with them and also take their mom and dad along? [more inside]
The Mr and I would like to take a 3-5 day road trip out of Seattle this December/January, including going somewhere that it would be fun to celebrate New Year's Eve. We are not interested in skiing or winter sports. We are interested in food, wine, and cultural events. [more inside]
I have read all the AskMe answers describing why a fee-based financial advisor is the way to go. The Mr and I want to get advice on planning to pay off our credit cards, save for a home, and plan for retirement in the next 20 years (we are approaching 50). Can you recommend any good financial advisors in the Seattle area that you or someone close to you has worked with? If it would help figure out if someone is a culture fit, we are Gen Xers both from income-strapped childhoods but who are doing reasonably well in the tech industry, no kids, live in the city and don't want to move to the suburbs, have a vaguely hipster lifestyle with lots of foodie activities and travel. I have already seen this thread but it is 7 years old.
Where should my bridesmaids and I go for dressy shoe shopping in Seattle, besides Nordstrom? The girls want to find some silver shoes, pumps or peeptoes, heels not super high, and under $200. Local/indie/boutique stores are especially good.
Please recommend a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) in Seattle or the Eastside. This is for a male friend of mine, so the therapist can be male or female. Feel free to memail me your recommendation if you want to remain confidential.
I need recommendations for a career coach or career counselor in the Seattle area. I'm in my mid-40s, just got laid off for the 5th time throughout my 13 years in the web/tech industry, and have been thinking for a few months that I need a change, but I don't know what my next move is. I think I want more meaning in my work life instead of just going through the motions building the next widget for synergistic end to end solutions or some other corporate B.S. I don't just want a career counselor who will give me a bunch of tests and say "you should be a journalist or a librarian or whatever", I really want someone who will help me figure out how to be more fulfilled in my work life.
What plants are suitable for putting on our deck in Seattle? There's no yard/soil, so they must live in containers. The deck is quite large so I was thinking about large decorative plants like small trees or some form of bamboo. Climate-wise, we have the typical PNW weather of moist winters that only fall below freezing a few days out of the year. Also, we are completely ignorant of gardening and would rather have something that can survive with a minimum of attention.
I'm looking for a place in Seattle or nearby that makes wacky and creative custom cakes similar to those featured on the Food TV program "Ace of Cakes". [more inside]
Can anyone recommend a tailor in Seattle or the Eastside? I need alterations done on several pieces of women's clothing, somewhat more complicated than just doing hems, so I would like a real tailor, not a dry cleaning shop that does alterations. I've already Googled, but would much prefer a referral to someone whose services you have actually used.
Please recommend good cooking classes in Seattle. I would like to give a friend a cooking class as a holiday gift. Said recipient is an omnivore (no dietary restrictions), has strong beginner (I wouldn't quite say intermediate) skills in cooking, loves both "American" and a wide variety of ethnic cuisines, and (just a random fact) is a fan of the Food Network.
