What Affordable Car has an Ergonomic Driver's Seat?

I've got to get a new or "new used" car. I've got all sorts of joint issues and have found Volvo's to have the best seats for me. Alas, they're outside my budget (and I've heard they cost a lot to repair). Would appreciate suggestions for an affordable alternative....

Stitched leather car seat + diarrhea = ?

Can this be cleaned? Should this be cleaned? Or should we go directly to replacing the seat? I've cleaned the surface, but it still smells, and I suspect the foam underneath must have gotten soaked. I'm willing to spend the money if it needs to be spent. I do not want to spend the next 10 years trying to excuse a faint eau de crap to my passengers.

Seat swapping: a solution to vote splitting in Canadian politics?

The Canadian Conservative Party is currently at 30.2% in nationwide polls but, due to factors such as vote splitting and regionalized support, is currently projected to form a minority government with 131 out of 308 seats in Parliament. That's undemocratic. Idea: what if opposition parties agreed not to run candidates in specific ridings so as to create two party races (Conservative-Liberal in some ridings, Conservative-NDP in others). Would that be lawful? [more inside]

Help me pick an inexpensive standing desk seat

I moved from an Aeron knock off that was beautiful and comfortable to a adjustable bar stool when I realized over time, the chair was the source of terrible back pain. So now I want to get a seat that is more ergonomic but I can't make up my mind. I want to sit erect. I want a place to put my feet if I choose. I want it to adjust up to at least 32 inches. I want the seat angle to be adjustable. All of these do that but I want to make the best decision. Here are my choices: 1, 2, 3. I've narrowed the selection down to these three. They are in my price range and aren't too ugly. I spend a lot of time at my PC and on the phone but I don't want my back to hurt anymore.

Need help choosing a rad pattern for a motorcycle seat.

I own a Kawasaki ZX-6 that I have done some moderate cosmetic customization to, including removing most of the fairings, reshaping the remaining fairings, removing the windshield, replacing the coolant tank and passenger pegs, and stickering the gas tank. The result is a street-fightery look that I'm quite proud of. Now I'm looking to get some custom vinyl printed and use it to recover the seats. I need help choosing a pattern. [more inside]

Baby on a bus situation

So it looks like I might need to start taking the baby on the bus to her daycare, which is downtown. I say baby… she's pretty much a toddler now, being just under one and a half, and pretty squirmy with it to. My preferred travel option with her when on foot is to put her in a backpack, which she loves and which chills her right out, but we also have a stroller. So… what is the best way to carry her on the bus? I've considered just standing with her in the backpack the whole way, but it seems like there might be a safety concern. There's taking the backpack off and keeping her in it, which seems like it might have similar concerns. Taking her right out of the backpack and putting her in my lap seems like it might be the most safety conscious option, but that assumes a seat and that she will stay put - that later condition being highly unlikely. And then it may be the same deal with the stroller. Thoughts?

Best car-seat/stroller for a preemie taking cabs?

We hope to take our daughter home early next year, but she will likely be only 4lbs plus then. We've been given a Phil & Ted stroller, but we'd like initially to use something that detaches into a car seat. We don't drive, but use a lot of cabs, walking etc. in Singapore. The reviews online seem more for people with cars or bigger babies. Any advice or recommendations for a light stroller that will detach into a carseat that can be used easily in a cab?

The easy way to sit up in bed.

I am looking to get one of those seatbacks that you can put in your bed, that will allow you to sit up in bed with minimal effort. Let me clarify - this is not a recliner. It's almost as if someone took a car seat and cut the tush part off, but added a bit near the bottom for stability. What is the offical term for them, and where can I find them?

Feets a-dangling While the Booze Hound Sleeps

My roommate is a pretty heavy drinker and smoker and he spends his Saturday nights passed out on the love seat in the den. His feet extend over the arm of the love seat. He sleeps on his back and I'm concerned that the pressure on his leg from the arm of the seat could cause a blood clot. Is this a real danger? Example of his position here.

Another car shopping question, this time concerning seats and back support.

I test drove a Nissan Versa and I liked the car very much, but felt that maybe my lower back hurt after 45 minutes or so of driving--even though the seat felt good when I first climbed into it. Otherwise, great value. And when I talk to other people who own this car, they tell me how comfortable the seats are. I'm 5'11", 160 pounds--pretty average I would suppose. So my question: 1) How likely is it that my back will "adjust" to the car? 2) If the seat doesn't work after awhile, has anyone had success with lumbar support products (pillows, etc.)--or is that just wishful thinking? How to win a seat in the House of Reps?

What is involved in running for a seat in the House? Right now there is an uncontested seat in my district, (AR-03) Arkansas, going to Boozman (R). He has a lot of financial backing and and a solid religious support base but he is also batshit insane. I am a 32 year old network/computer specialist that works for the university with no previous political experience, I am pretty good organizer and a fair public speaker and would do well on web activism. but I am not sure if this would even make a difference in a real congressional race as I have no $$$, if there was another candidate I would support them, but this guy is running unopposed so somebody should do something!
