Snow in Flagstaff in April?

We're thinking of visiting Flagstaff, Arizona in April... what is the danger of snow? My wife and I were thinking of traveling to the Flagstaff area to see canyons and pueblos. I have time blocked off for the week of April 20th. After doing some more research, it seems like it will be fairly cold there still due to the altitude. We'll be coming from Maine and seeing snow would be somewhat disheartening. Is there likely to be a lot of snow on the ground still, and will there be growing green things at that point, or are things still pretty dead?

If the latter, any suggestions for a warmer, more spring-y destination with a similar canyon/pueblo profile? Or will I have to resign myself to seeing such things another time?

Traveling Light

When packing for two seasons, how can I avoid airline baggage fees on size and weight? In a few weeks, I am flying (Delta Airlines) to an area that will have chilly autumn mornings followed by very warm desert afternoons. As a result, I will have different clothing requirements depending upon time of day. I will be packing for two seasons. The trip duration is six days and I will have no access to laundry facilities. To avoid extra airline baggage fees, I want to keep size and weight to a minimum.

What are your suggestions for what I should take and what I should leave at home, as well as any useful packing techniques? Thanks as always for your assistance.

Help me with seasonal powerpoint backgrounds!

I need 4 backgrounds (ideally of the same scene) for powerpoint each depicting one of the four seasons. They are to be the backdrops for a skit where two people meet at a bus stop regularly to chat. AskMe, can you help?

A joke for all seasons... er, each season

I'm looking for short jokes, riddles, tongue twisters, or funny sayings about each month of the year. Think "April showers bring May flowers, so what do Mayflowers bring?" Anyone have more? Major U.S. holiday and seasonal jokes will do in a pinch, but we want to stick to non-denominational jokes. (This is for my mom's classroom.)

Has Spring Sprung?

Has Spring arrived where you are? (With apologies to those in the South). Here in England Spring is late, by about a month (I would guess). Nothing unusual there but I'm curious to know if the arrival of Spring varies around the world. Are there places, right now, where Spring arrived early and is well under way? Is the timing of blossom, leaf growth, entirely due to local temperature? I judge the lateness of spring specifically here by Daffodils, but Cherry Blossom and leaf growth all seem co-ordinated by some invisible hand. How does it work and why does it seem no-one can predict the timing in advance?

Thrust in the wind

Why is there more wind in Autumn? I've always noticed that as summer is ending, the wind picks up considerably. And it seems that all over the web, many, including NASA, agree that there is more wind and more stormy weather in Autumn. But I can't seem to find an explanation why. Is it air pressure? Temperature? The magnetosphere? What?

Snow on Earth

At any given minute, is it always snowing somewhere on Earth, or are there times when there is no snow falling anywhere on the planet?

Does this answer differ with the time of year?

Hayfever

I didn't get it until I was 17. Now I'm 21 and it's driving me mad. I've tried nasal spray, over the counter pills, prescription stuff, but all they offer is a day or two of respite before this goddamn hayfever comes back again, full force. My current pack of Clarityn has also (scarily) caused an unrelenting twitch in my right lower eyelid. Which I don't like. So, does anyone have any surefire, solid gold remedies for hayfever? IS this injection I've heard about any cop? And who do I have to sleep with in the UK to get it?

Tokyo Autumn

Can anyone give me some subjective or anecdotal information about the weather in Tokyo during autumn? [more inside...] I'm planning a vacation to Tokyo this year, ideally during September or October. My personal preference is towards warm, dry weather - but apparently that might be hard to find in Japan during this period.

Days of Googling have left me overwhelmed and even more confused than when I started. It seems that the Japanese are even more obsessed with the weather than the English. Perhaps this is because Tokyo seems to suffer more rainfall than London.

June and July is apparently "rainy season", when from what I read it's either unbearably humid and muggy or it's raining.

September marks the start of "typhoon season" - though I haven't been able to discern whether this means it's more or less likely to rain than in June or July. Are typhoons likely to affect the weather in Tokyo?

October seems to be a little calmer, meteorologically speaking - but also cooler... and as stated I prefer the warmer temperatures. Can anyone make sense of this for me? Am I headed for tempest, storm and flood if I choose to visit Tokyo during the early autumn?
