Android App Search

Android App Search Question: I'm looking for a specific type of Android app (a music player which has a large "time elapsed" display). I'm new to the world of apps, and am completely confused as to how to sort the apps in the Play Store and even begin to narrow down the options. It looks like the only search criteria are "Free" or "Paid" - either way, I get like a bajillion returns. Am I missing something? How do folks either (a) narrow down your searches, or (b) navigate the overwhelming choice?

Find books in blog?

Blogging anesthesiologist Joe Stirt has a great site, and I particularly like his book recommendations. I'd like to compile a reasonably comprehensive list of these books, but Joe doesn't use tags, so: what is the best way to go about finding his book recommendations amongst all his other posts?

Is Monster not really a monster at all...?

MonsterFilter: I've had my resume up on Monster for at least 6 months now and I've only had 17 hits - is this normal, are there a bunch of tricks I don't know about, or are employers only using Monster to post vacancies, as opposed to using it to search for prospective employees? [more inside]

I have a problem, that no one else can help, and if I could find them, maybe I could hire...

WhatToDoWhenAskMeFiFailsFilter: I'm sure I remember reading an article moons ago about professionals who could find information for you for a fee when your Google-fu fails, people highly skilled (librarians?) in the use of search terms and engines. [more inside]
