Wi-FI camera

How to use Wi-fi or eye-fi flash memory in my compact flash based DSLR. I have a Sony Alpha 100 that I love. I want to use an eye-fi card or something similarly wi-fi to facilitate the uploading of photos wherever I am. The camera uses Compact Flash. I see you can get an SD to Compact Flash converter. Just curious if it would work, or if it would break hamper it so it doesn't work. what do other people do, besides just normal transferring with the card or a cable?

How do I treat my Canon IXUS as a removable drive/card reader?

How do I bypass Windows XP's digital camera photo download tool? Or to be more precise, how do I treat my Canon IXUS 75 as a card reader? I want to put a couple of mp3s onto my SD card to take round to a friends house but can only seem to download things from the camera and not put them on. The windows xp downloader seems to be stopping me but I cannot see a way around this. Can anyone help?

I simply want to be able to turn on my camera and view the memory card as a removable drive like I can with other devices.

Using a camera as a card writer in XP. Possible?

How do I mount a digital camera as a writable drive (to the SD card) in Windows XP? I'm trying to upgrade the firmware (chdk) on my just purchased Canon A570. I need to write a file to the root of the SD card, but I don't have a card reader around. The Canon shows up in "My Computer", but I cannot change the designation in disk management. I know card readers are all of $5, but I really wanted to get this done tonight.

Staying classy as a homeless in San Diego

Staying <strike>classy</strike> cheap in San Diego.. where should I stay overnight? And any neighborhoods to avoid? Flying from SF down to San Diego to listen to a Robert Irwin lecture in La Jolla. Don't have any hotels/hostels booked, and I wanna minimize how much I spend.. what are some parks I can stay in overnight without being bothered by authorities? If this is actually too sketch, I'm open to staying in a hostel, but it seems like most of them only accept out-of-state, or international residents.

Thanks.

PS Anyone wanna climb on Friday, or Saturday? I'll bring my harness and shoes in that case.

What are some good uses for spare smaller capacity SD and CF cards?

What are some good uses for spare smaller capacity SD and CF cards? I assume that I'm not the only one who has an accidental collection of smallish capacity memory cards at home gathering dust. That 32MB CF that Canon so graciously included with my camera a few years ago, plus the-oh-my-God-expensive-at-the-time 512MB SD that I had to have for my PDA in 2004, not to mention the pair of now-not-so-Ultra 256meg CF cards I had to have to feed my now-replaced DSLR... you get the picture.

I now have adequate numbers 4GB and 8GB CF and SDHC cards for use with my current crop of devices, but it'd be a waste to discard the small capacity cards, and no one seems to want them, given the price that 1GB+ cards go for on eBay. So, what are some suggestions for using these things fruitfully?

I think i got cleverly scammed on amazon?
I bought a micro sd card on amazon and it has 2gb printed on it BUT when i formatted it, it told me it only had a capacity of 983mb(or something around that).
Have i been scammed or is my pc crazy? i bought this sd card:
SD Cards by the pound?

Surely I can buy 128 or 64mb SD cards for ridiculously low prices, now that they are so out of date. Right? I'm tired of sending around mix CDs--I'd much rather send out mix SD cards. And I could make a nice mix of 12 or 24 songs, with album art, &c., and put it on an old, old, out of date flash card. (Or, less optimally for me, an old 128mb USB drive, which I also have been unable to find for as low a price I want).

Now, these days twenty bucks gets you two gigs of storage, so I just can't believe that anyone really uses 128meg cards anymore. I would have thought that I could buy them by the pound! But the best I've seen is on eBay, where they seem to be about $5 or $6, after shipping charges if you buy in bulk.

Any suggestions?

SD card doesn't work just in Win XP?

My 2Gb SD card stopped working under Windows, works with the camera and Ubuntu, what's the problem? The card that I have for 2 months now today stopped working with Windows XP. It's a PQ1 Hi-Speed 60 2GB SD card. It worked fine until today and still works fine under Ubuntu and with my DMC FZ50 camera.
When I put it in Windows says it has to be formatted but when I press format it says that it can't finish formatting. When I do that the card has to be formatted with the camera so it can be usable again. I tried Ubuntu and it worked fine but I am not good enough to transfer my files from Ubuntu to XP.
I know I have an USB cable for the camera but still I want to use my card reader.
I tried reinstalling the driver for the device but nothing changed.

Which digital camera has these three characteristics?

Does this camera exist? If not, what comes closest? Slim, lightweight digital camera that 1) can be set to do exposure bracketing of every shot, 2) uses either full-size SD or CF cards [not Memory Sticks], and 3) has an internal battery that charges via a standard mini-USB jack.

I need a small case for carrying SD cards on my keychain. Suggestions? The smallest Pelican case I can find on Ebay is too big. My present case is the iPorter, which is...kinda flimsy and shaped like a tiny digital camera. I carry 5 or 6 cards at a time; I used to carry them in my wallet and they got damaged sometimes. Why do I carry so much data? very nerdy? maybe.

Turn my Memory Stick into an SD?

Is there anyway I can basically turn a memory stick into an SD Card? My wife and I just got a Wii, and we would love to be able to quickly and easily view our pictures on it, but our digital camera uses the memory stick, which isn't supported by the Wii. The Wii only supports SD cards. Is there any way I could view our pictures without having to go through a 15-step process of copying them to and from our computer or without buying a new camera?

Digital camera memory, does brand matter for SD or CF? (looking for two different cameras) Purchasing memory for two cameras, and price variance is high. I've looked at Newegg, (seems to be the best prices). Is this one of those where you "get what you pay for?" FWIW, both cameras are for casual use.
Recommendations for a flash based cart system for a GBA micro?

I've got a Gameboy Micro and have been thinking about getting either a SuperCard, M3 Advance or Neoflash Mk2/Mk3 and have a number of questions... 1. Have you ever used any of these? Which would you recommend for use with a GBA Micro? I'm not particulary interested in getting a NDS.

2. I'm thinking about the CF version as I have a number of CF cards lying around however SD is pretty cheap. Is there any particulary compelling reason why I should go with SD over CF? Size issues? Power issues? Speed issues?

3. What is running emulation like on these things? I quite fancy playing SNES Sensible Soccer, Megalomania and Cannon Fodder to relive my childhood.

4. Do you know of anywhere in the UK I can get this without having to pay up for the PassMe connector? Given that I don't intend on getting a NDS, it seems rather pointless.

I intend on using it to reduce my collection of games from 30 odd carts down to 1.

SD card failure; impending heart failure

My SD card has died (or has it?) - filled with pictures. Is it possible to get the pictures back, if Windows won't even "see" the card? I've got a SanDisk 512 SD card, and I just got a Nikon D50 DSLR camera. I took it out about 10 days ago and took 200 pics, some of them actually GOOD. Took the SD card out, and with a USB-based-SD-card-reader I look at 'em and showed 'em around and so on.

I left the SD card sitting in the USB reader sticking out of the USB port on the outside of my PC (WinXP). This may have been my mistake.

Today I went to move the pictures onto the hard drive, edit 'em and post 'em on flickr. I can't. The Removable Drive shows up in My Computer, but I can't open. I can't right click on it. It just goes into deep slowdown mode.

I tried using another card (in fact, a memory stick) in the same USB reader and that works fine. It's not the reader. I put the card back in the camera. Oh-oh. This card cannnot be used.

What the hell?

Have I trashed the card? Was it from sitting out? If Windows won't recognize it, I can't even reformat it, let alone get the pictures off of it?

Any ideas or experiences here?

Thanks

I recently purchased a Kingston 256MB SD card for my Tungsten-E. File transfer speeds are incredibly slow: it takes 15-30 minutes to transfer one measly MP3.
I bought and installed a USB-2 card on my computer, but it doesn't seem to help much. Is this normal? Is there a problem with the SD-card or the handheld? Would buying a dedicated card reader help?

About to get a new Palm, and I'm wondering about Secure Digital (SD) cards. Now, word on the street is that different cards perform at different speeds, and that SanDisk is the slowest of them.
