Why does the cursor grab my web-page and scroll up (or down) by itself?

Why do windows on my laptop sometimes scroll by themselves, or via touchpad movements? XP newbie with newish Win XP Thinkpad having trouble with cursor and/or touchpad behavior.

I'd like to control scrolling only with the keyboard's arrow or PgUp/PgDn keys, or by dragging the scroll bar with my mouse or clicking its arrows.

And yet, something automagically kicks in with my new laptop -- the scrollbar (and page) moves up and down in tandem with my finger on the touch pad, sometimes even sailing away on its own, even though the cursor's nowhere near the scroll bar -- why?

'Tap to Click' is turned off under mouse -> touch if that's maybe a factor.

Reset the CSS on these scrollbars!

A framework I'm using styles scrollbars in an ugly way. Other CSS elements have a setting of "None" to effectively reset the style to the browser's default. Scrollbar styling doesn't have a "None" so once the style is applied by the framework there's no going back. How can I reset the scrollbar CSS to defer styling back to the browser? For reasons beyond the scope of this question I cannot modify the framework's CSS in any way. Sucks, but all I'm really able to do is apply styles over any that are set by the framework CSS.

I don't need no stinking scrollbars.

Why can't I get rid of the Terminal's scrollbar in OS X 10.5? I'm pretty sure I had this figured out in 10.4, but I just noticed today that the scrollbar is back and I can't get rid of it. None of the older tricks work, and the one Leopard-specific one I did find (downloading some App called Deeper) didn't work either.

Just to be clear, I want to get rid of the scrollbar itself, not the scrollback buffer. I understand one of the earliest ways to get rid of the scrollbar was to just set the buffer to 0 but that's not what I'd like to do.

Where in the heck is my scrollbar?

My scrollbar has disppeared and won't come back! I'm sure this is a stupid question with a simple answer, but I can't seem to get google to work for me to help answer it. I'm running MS Word on OS X, and my vertical scrollbar on the right hand side disappeared a few weeks ago. I nosed through pretty much every menu looking for a way to bring it back, but I can't seem to find it. It's becoming more than just a minor nuisance. The horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the window appears just fine, it's only vertical that has gone missing. What do I need to do to bring it back?

Need to find an application that moves all scroll bars to the left side of the screen.

Need to find an application that moves all scroll bars to the left side of the screen. My friend is left-handed, and has started using a tablet pc instead of his usual desktop. With the scrollbar on the right and his right hand very hard to use, it's awkward to scroll down pages. Is there an application (or even browser plugin) that will move scrollbars to the left side of the screen for him? Is there any way he can change it in his system settings?

Buggy Flash Scrollbars

I just finished programming a Flash site for a client. During tests, the client insists that scrollbars sometimes lose their ability to scroll. I can't recreate the error. Furthermore, I'm just using Flash's built-in scrollbar (I didn't alter it). This is the scrollbar component that came with Flash MX (not the MX 2004 TextArea). Has anyone encountered this (bug?) before. The site is here (sorry about the self-link, but I don't know how else to get help on this one). To test the scrollbar, click "Production Designers" and try the various names. NOTE: some names won't have a working scrollbar, because there's not enough text to scroll.
