I met a guy who is producing a tv show - he has raised half the money to shoot the pilot and seems to be legitimate. I told him I was a writer and he expressed interest in having me on board as one of the writers for the show. He then asked me if I could turn his treatment (the overall idea of the first episode) into a proper script format. He did not offer to pay for this and it seemed like it was a way of auditioning / interviewing me. More details and my question inside.. [more inside]
So, I finished the first draft of a TV spec script this week. I checked to see if the show even looks at spec scripts (it does) and I got a bunch of scripts off the show to study the style and length, etc. Now what?* The only writing gigs I've gotten before have either been people coming to me, self-publishing, or people with their own agents bringing me in as part of a package deal. My only experience with the slush pile is cartoon selling (and I've done well there in so far as you can). I don't have representation of my own. After the writing part of writing is done, how does the selling part go - at least for US TV? [more inside]

What's the copyright status of TV show scripts? Not the original scripts themselves, but versions transcribed from the show as it was broadcast? [more inside]
Script format for :30 commercials?I've been asked by a local company to write scripts based upon concepts I've given them for :30 commercial spots to air on local cable. I know it's not a big deal, but since I'm anal about proper format in general, I was wondering what the proper formatting is for this kind of script. Plus I'm simply curious. [more inside]
According to the IMDb there are only 231 films (or tv series) in which the title is spoken by a character therein. That number seems rather low -- I thought there would be a lot more than that, especially considering that society that claps and walks out whenever this happens. But other than 'The Truman Show' I can't think of any more. Any other ideas?
