I just moved into an amazing raw industrial loft in Downtown Los Angeles. It has rotating warehouse style windows with no screens, and I'm being eaten alive by bugs. Any ideas about how to put screens on these windows or any not-too-costly alternate solutions? (Here's a picture.) I did a Google search, but can't find the formal name for this type of window, so I'm coming up empty.

Where can I buy window screens for my balcony doors in Toronto? It seems like an easy one, but I've tried Home Depot, Canadian Tire and Home Hardware so far with no luck. We have standard ~2.5 ft x ~7 ft balcony doors. Any suggestions?

I'm starting work on a new deck and ideally when the project is finished, I'd like to swap out the standard sliding glass door that leads out from the kitchen with out-swinging double french doors (something like these). But can they also be practical? [more inside]

Am I just fated to buy a new Palm Pilot every year, or does everyone find the screens of Palms PDAs to be rather fragile? My Tungsten E has just suffered it's first pitting after nine months of use, and, somehow I suspect the end is near...

I have an IBM T41 laptop with the high-res 1400x1080 display, which is a great machine. However, the screen isn't great for touching up digital pictures because the colours aren't as good as the CRT on my PC. Is there any way I can tweak the display settings to improve the colour rendition? [more inside]

ScreenFilter! Coworker has used alcohol-based wipes to clean his monitor, removing the anti-dust coating. Now he has a streaky monitor that attracts dust. Is there a magic wand to make it all better? (Closely related to this recent query.)

How should one go about cleaning a laptop screen? I've always cleaned my regular monitors with good old Windex, but my Mac Powerbook manual recommends using only specialized cleaners (costly wipes) for active-matrix displays.
