My work computer is a laptop running Windows 7. I am working far from my office this week (as I often do) and I connect to my work server through Remote Desktop Connection. Typically this is pretty much problem-free, but for the last two or three days, when I log in to the server, I am seeing the server's desktop not as a full screen, but in a window about 10" wide on my 17.3" laptop screen. As well, while the laptop's screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, the window looks to be 4:3. Attempting to resize the window through the Maximize/Restore Down icon avails me naught: I can mouse over the edges of the window and drag it to a new size, but it maxes out at the size that I mention, which covers maybe 60% of the screen's real estate. Numerous reboots and resets have not rectified it and I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

There is no A/C, no screen door, and no magic they'll provide us to keep mosquitos/flies/bugs from entering through the patio door when it is open. Besides reasoning with them (it's just their policy), what recourse do I have so that I can keep the screen installed on my door? I'm in San Diego, CA.
Also FWIW, the screen is far from unsightly. Search for "bug off instant screen" on Amazon.

A friend's iPad has a screen protector that is slightly micro-bumpy and rubbery. I call it "nurbly." It breaks up reflections but doesn't dull the display the way matte screen protectors do, since it is shiny, but bumpy. Another friend has the same thing on his iPhone. Neither of them can remember where they got it. Does anyone have this and know the name of it? I want to put one on my iPad mini.

I accidentally got some soda fall on the LCD screen of my Compaq CQ56 laptop, and seconds later, a
smudge appeared on the lower right side of the screen (everything on that area appears lighter when it is on). It looks like the liquid got inside the screen, and I don't know what to do about it. Can anyone help?

I'd like to keep my bathroom window open and air moving through, but our bathroom window is directly opposite the neighbor's balcony. So I need some sort of screen or grate or fabric or something that is open enough to let air through, but opaque enough to hide our bathroom activity. Do I use fabric, metal, what? And where do I find it?

My laptop has a broken screen. Before I send it off for repair, I need to back it up, but I can't do that without a screen. I don't have access to a monitor to plug it into, but I do have two other working laptops available. Can I somehow hook them up so I can use one of the working screens with the broken laptop?

Today my laptop's backlight stopped working. The screen is visible, but very dim. I can't repair it immediately (if it's even worth it). Does anyone have any tips for lighting the screen to make it more visible? Shining a penlight didn't seem to help much, because the screen is so reflective.

I'm getting a Blue Screen of Death on startup (Windows XP Pro) which says that the "problem" (whatever it may be) is being caused by a file called klif.sys. Googling around indicates it's a Kaspersky file, and I do indeed have their anti-virus software installed on my system. But I haven't found any solutions, and I can't get past this BSOD. Is there any hope for me? (More details inside.)

I have a 1024x768 resolution. When I run programs which are native to 800x600, instead of stretching to fit the whole screen, they show in 1024x768, but in a small box in the middle of my screen with a huge black border. The same thing happens when I manually change my resolution to 800x600 - resolution stays the same, but the viewable area shrinks, leaving a small rectangle in the middle and a large blank space around it. How can I fix this?
