I'm interested in projecting a device's output (HDMI, Thunderbolt, whatever) onto the ceiling for truly lazy reading or movie watching while in bed. Is this possible? [more inside]
My computer is inside my apartment; my e-ink tablet is in the backyard; both are on the same wireless network. The tablet both (1) mirrors everything on the computer and (2) serves as a wireless keyboard and mouse, sending my touch commands to the computer. How close to this setup am I able to come right now? I have a Yoga 2 Pro, freshly purchased, with an insanely high resolution screen (3800 x 1800). I generally run Xubuntu in a VM alongside windows, but I'm struggling to make it truly workable. What is the state of the art in resolution independence when it comes to Linux? What window manager should I be looking at, are there guides and tweaks etc.? [more inside]
Can I simply physically replace the 1366*768 LCD in my HP EliteBook 8440p with the 1600*900 part and have the laptop autodetect the new screen and show the proper resolution? Or is there extra logic or connectors or dongles or whatever in the main body that must also be modified in order for the display to work, (or maybe it Just Won't Work)? Put simply, is HP 594090-001 plug-and-play? [more inside]
My work computer is a laptop running Windows 7. I am working far from my office this week (as I often do) and I connect to my work server through Remote Desktop Connection. Typically this is pretty much problem-free, but for the last two or three days, when I log in to the server, I am seeing the server's desktop not as a full screen, but in a window about 10" wide on my 17.3" laptop screen. As well, while the laptop's screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, the window looks to be 4:3. Attempting to resize the window through the Maximize/Restore Down icon avails me naught: I can mouse over the edges of the window and drag it to a new size, but it maxes out at the size that I mention, which covers maybe 60% of the screen's real estate. Numerous reboots and resets have not rectified it and I am at a loss as to how to proceed. [more inside]
My iMac is doing something weird with brightness. It's not showing up at full brightness except every once in a while for a second after the display has slept. [more inside]
Is there a way to specify exactly where, on my screen, each successive new window should appear? [more inside]
I hit some keys, and the Mac display got too big for the screen! [more inside]
Looking for screen resolution breakdown by user demographics. [more inside]
My laptop (Acer Aspire 3810T) fell about 2 feet onto a carpeted floor. It was closed, but now I have a black smudge on the bottom right corner of the screen (by the way, the smudge disappeared after a few minutes, but has now reappeared and is not going away). It is annoying but I can still work with it since it is not completely opaque. After extensive googling and chatting with Acer support, I think the LCD may have ruptured. However, can I continue using the laptop or is the display going to get progressively worse and die soon? Although it is still within the warranty period, I think I may have to pay for repairs (since the techs may figure out that it was dropped). Thank you in advance.

I want one of those monitors you see in movies that are a piece of glass that you can see through. They invariably have maps on them, and are touch screen. Awesome. Is this even possible?
I want a laptop / notebook computer with very small pixels. How do I better articulate this, and more to the point, search for it? [more inside]

Digital Photo Frame (DPF) with wireless and wide viewing angle? I had my heart set on a Sungale 15” DPF with wifi, but when I viewed one in-store, the screen was far more sensitive to viewer head position than the norm (both height and sideways angle), which is terrible for a DPF. Is there anything similar which uses a non-sucky screen, and how can I know, given that I can’t view it personally before buying? [more inside]
my powerbook g4 15" screen is often incapable of displaying the bottom 2/3 of the display. is it at all likely that this is a connection issue or do i probably just need to replace the screen? [more inside]
An Arcview/GIS dialog box (the Identify Results dialog box) is missing. Can I reset the dialog box locations? I think it's off to the screen to the right on the (now unavailable) second monitor's space. [more inside]
How broken is my laptop display, and is it worth fixing? [more inside]
Why does my computer (Linux, Gnome) suddenly think my screen is 3 feet wide? How can I convince it otherwise? [more inside]
I have a 1024x768 resolution. When I run programs which are native to 800x600, instead of stretching to fit the whole screen, they show in 1024x768, but in a small box in the middle of my screen with a huge black border. The same thing happens when I manually change my resolution to 800x600 - resolution stays the same, but the viewable area shrinks, leaving a small rectangle in the middle and a large blank space around it. How can I fix this? [more inside]
I'm a self-admitted computer freak, and I primarily run Windows XP. On average, I have at least 5 windows open. I have a 20" flat panel, and I want to display multiple programs at once in a simple fashion. Is there software that can do this? Or should I, as I'm planning to do now, purchase another monitor?
