A pretty hard drop on a pretty hard floor has done damage to an iPad screen. Does the damage seem like something fixable by a layperson, such as myself? [more inside]
I'm an amateur screen printer and I've just moved to NYC. I've just pulled my first print since moving but I can't get the screen reclaimed with just my shower's pressure. Ideas? [more inside]
So I have this new t-shirt with a huge white print on the front (it's a Misfits skull), and the print/ink is really thick and rigid. Are there any tricks to soften the print and make it more pliable without ruining the shirt?
I just can't understand this. I have two laptops, both size 11.6, one of which (Dell Inspiron 11 3000 series) has larger type and content than the new Lenovo I got (S21e)...yet both are set to the highest resolution, the native 1366 x 768. I try adjusting the "make things larger", but these are Windows 10 and it keeps me at 100%. Things can appear a bit fluffier, larger, a couple of settings down but this can't be he answer, can it? Of course my 15.6 lappys are damn near perfect...
I'm looking for an iPhone app that lets one keep time records (simple in-out-lunch's fine, don't need task/client tracking), but most importantly has a presence on the lock screen. In a perfect world I could get a lunch hour countdown clock too, but I'm not greedy. Any suggestions?

I dropped my iPhone. The screen cracked. Can I take it into an Apple Store and have them fix it there? Or do I need to send it in to them for repair? Hoping to do this same day if possible. I'm in NYC if relevant.
A few weeks ago, I got my phone wet (dropped it off a raft...) and I immediately put it into rice for three full days. Turning it on, lo and behold it worked. For a few days, anyway... [more inside]
We have apocalypse level mosquitoes where I live and I am fed up with losing so much of our outdoor summer time. Screening in our deck is NOT an option, so we're looking for ways to create a detached screen room for not a ton of money. (ie. looking to spend less than 500$) [more inside]
Do the clear blue-filtering screen protectors for mobile devices actually do anything? An example. I have a few at hand, and they are completely transparent, I think the product is just a plain clear screen protector. [more inside]
Does there exist software that lets me block images on my computer screen by selecting, sizing and moving other, preferred images with my mouse or my finger? [more inside]
I got the go-ahead to build a Raspberry Pi-based information screen (mostly upcoming events) for the lobby of my church. I am a software guy so I've got that side mostly figured out. But how do I mount the Pi? On the back of the monitor somehow? I need to mount the monitor fairly high on the wall. I have access to a standard outlet. [more inside]
In the terminals of a few airports I've been to (CLT, BOS, maybe YYZ?), I have seen screens playing video advertisements on the walls of the terminals that don't look like the typical LCD or plasma TV. They seem to consist of four rectangles arranged 2x2, essentially forming one "screen", with a small gap between each panel. There is no "frame" around each panel like a normal TV - I just appears to be four screens by themselves. Also, the panels appeared unusually bright. The image did not appear to be projected from elsewhere. What are these devices called?
I am currently in the Boston area experiencing snow mania 2015 where we have received an obscene amount of snow lately. I am a new homeowner and this is our first winter in the house so thank you in advance for your advice! There are a number of ice damns on my roof (likely because we have a cape-style house with poor ventilation). We're planning to have someone look into what we can do to improve ventilation/etc after the winter, but in the meantime do you have any advice on what to do about the ice damns? [more inside]

I want to make a tent that goes over the opened lift gate (hatchback?) of my minivan. The ones I've seen are expensive, and I have an old tent, plus a couple of old tent flies and some mesh screen. The tent acts as an extension of the van and allows in air. Could also be used as privacy space for the camping potty. So, ideas and suggestions for making it as good as possible? Have you ever made your own tent? [more inside]

I recently bought a new bong so I can smoke salvia (which is legal in my state.) However when I put the screen in, the screen slides around. So whenever I pack the bong, the screen tips and salvia falls out. What can I do to keep the screen in place? Is there a substance I can use to make it stick that won't be harmful when it is lit and inhaled? Is there something else I can (legally) smoke that will leave a residue that will keep it in place? Thanks for your help!
What are the monitor expansion options for a laptop with these ports? images. I think I see mini-HDMI on the right hand side? And is that DisplayPort on the left?
My computer is inside my apartment; my e-ink tablet is in the backyard; both are on the same wireless network. I have to stare at this thing an awful lot for work, and of course I stare at it recreationally too. But after a few hours a horrible dazed feeling creeps up on me. So walking the dogs the other day, Lady zigged while I was trying to text, and my leash hand punched my texting hand, and the phone broke the screen (but not touch sensing). We want to build a screen printing setup at work. I had a studio back in the day where some friends and I made an exposure table, a printing rig and place to store the screens. That part, I've got down. What I don't know how to get around here is a spray booth. There is no water source in the actual studio. We do, however, have a kitchen area and there are bathrooms so I have access to water, I just need to figure out a good way to put this together. Does anyone have experience with printing in less than ideal places? Thanks!
I dropped my iPhone 4S a couple weeks ago and broke the screen. Insert humorous anecdote here. Can anyone describe their experience with 3rd-party replacement glass versus "official" replacement screen glass? Bonus points for specific locations in suburban Boston where I could get this fixed on a while-you-wait basis, since I'll be in Boston-ish over the next few days. Thanks.
I have a Yoga 2 Pro, freshly purchased, with an insanely high resolution screen (3800 x 1800). I generally run Xubuntu in a VM alongside windows, but I'm struggling to make it truly workable. What is the state of the art in resolution independence when it comes to Linux? What window manager should I be looking at, are there guides and tweaks etc.? [more inside]
I want to buy a new Retina Macbook Pro for live performances with Ableton Live. For all other purposes I'd go with the 13-inch model because it is more portable, but I'm worried that 1) the screen will be too small to see all the tracks, or 2) the dual-core processor won't be fast enough compared to the quad-core in 15-inch models. Can anyone speak from experience? Was a 13" good enough?
I need to attach a window screen to my fire escape window. Obviously I'd like it to break away when necessary (and also so I can water my herbs strapped to the bars on the upper half of the window). How can I do this most effectively and with materials I already have? It needs to cover both the top and bottom half of the window, and there's no existing screen frame. [more inside]

Can I simply physically replace the 1366*768 LCD in my HP EliteBook 8440p with the 1600*900 part and have the laptop autodetect the new screen and show the proper resolution? Or is there extra logic or connectors or dongles or whatever in the main body that must also be modified in order for the display to work, (or maybe it Just Won't Work)? Put simply, is HP 594090-001 plug-and-play? [more inside]

How do you screen for reliability and filter out self-centered/selfish nature in dating in real life and online dating? And, how do you find out whether a person (for dating or friendship) is a 'giver' or a 'taker'? By reliability and being a giver, I don't mean something as trivial as calling when they say they will. I mean more like being there for you when you are going through one or more major challenging life events, putting the relationship and "us" before individual interests especially when the going gets rough for you and not for them individually. Does this kind of reliability even exist among partners and can one really, truly, deeply trust another human being or do you feel you always have to watch your back even with a partner of months or years or decades?
My work computer is a laptop running Windows 7. I am working far from my office this week (as I often do) and I connect to my work server through Remote Desktop Connection. Typically this is pretty much problem-free, but for the last two or three days, when I log in to the server, I am seeing the server's desktop not as a full screen, but in a window about 10" wide on my 17.3" laptop screen. As well, while the laptop's screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio, the window looks to be 4:3. Attempting to resize the window through the Maximize/Restore Down icon avails me naught: I can mouse over the edges of the window and drag it to a new size, but it maxes out at the size that I mention, which covers maybe 60% of the screen's real estate. Numerous reboots and resets have not rectified it and I am at a loss as to how to proceed. [more inside]
I just got this notice from the leasing office: http://imgur.com/6GUeUeg There is no A/C, no screen door, and no magic they'll provide us to keep mosquitos/flies/bugs from entering through the patio door when it is open. Besides reasoning with them (it's just their policy), what recourse do I have so that I can keep the screen installed on my door? I'm in San Diego, CA. Also FWIW, the screen is far from unsightly. Search for "bug off instant screen" on Amazon.
A friend's iPad has a screen protector that is slightly micro-bumpy and rubbery. I call it "nurbly." It breaks up reflections but doesn't dull the display the way matte screen protectors do, since it is shiny, but bumpy. Another friend has the same thing on his iPhone. Neither of them can remember where they got it. Does anyone have this and know the name of it? I want to put one on my iPad mini.

We haven't had a proper TV in over a decade. I would like to have something other than my laptop to watch streaming media, DVDs, Netflix, etc. Can you explain how this works in 2013? I imagine we'd buy something like this Samsung LED HDTV and some kind of speakers. Then what? Do we plug it into a laptop? What exactly is Apple TV and how does it stack up against Roku? This seems like it should be a simple question, but I feel like a caveman emerging from the dark, and am fairly bewildered at all of the options and variations out there. [more inside]
