Scraping/Painting an Old House With Layers of Lead Paint

The exterior of my 100 year old house (dutch colonial) is a mess: layers of paint atop paint. Nobody's ever scraped because there's obviously lead in there. So at this point, it's a gunky, peeling mess. And I don't want to resort to siding. I got one estimate to scrape (in full-out hazmat suits and containment set-ups, etc) and paint for $25K. Yeow! I don't want to make anyone sick - not the painters, nor the kids in the nabe - I really don't. Are there less expensive options?

I have injured myself with a washcloth. Please help.

I was too aggressive with a washcloth in my attempt to self-remove a seborrheic keratosis on my temple. I seem to have injured myself. At first, the spot where I rubbed was just a bit red and raw, but 3 days later it looks like a full-fledged scrape with light scabbing. I'm keeping vaseline on it. Any advice for speeding the healing?

Much self-control needed to avoid scratching!

I scraped my wrist eight days ago. The gash itself is healing up alright, albeit a bit slower than I'd like, and it looks like it might scar a little. But the surrounding area is red, blotchy, and bumpy like a rash, and it itches terribly. Should I be concerned? [more inside]

If I didn't look like Darkman, I'd come to your office and yell at you...

Thanks to a douchebag contractor that dumped a cubic yard of broken cinder blocks in the bike lane, we're back to the eternal question: Is it better to leave a large but shallow scrape injury open to the air or cover it? Or is there some other thing I should be doing? [more inside]

application for scraping info from a web page for a database

Suppose you wanted to scrape information from a web page and dump it into a CSV file for use in a database - specifically a large table of contact information coded in HTML. Is there an application (I work in OS X, but have access to Windows machines) that will do this? Would it be possible to write up an AppleScript or something similar to do the job?
