Suggestions for an awesome summer roadtrip!

Cross-country road trip filter: The boyfriend and I are driving from Atlanta to the SF Bay area for our jobs at Berkeley and LLNL, respectively. This question encompasses several smaller questions about such a road trip. I have three minor questions which I am mashing into one giant road-trip question. If this isn't kosher, please let me know!
Hive mind, please feel free to weigh in on one or all of these, or offer any other suggestions you're just dying to get out.

1. Do you know of any restaurants that are absofreakinglutely not to be missed along this general route? Seafood or BBQ recs a plus.
2. Car games for two people in a small, loud convertible. One of us will always be driving, so not terribly thought-intensive. Though both of us do love a good game of Contact, I can't think of a way to adapt it for only two people.
3. We are planning on making a scrapbook as a reminder of our awesome (hopefully!) experience. Neither of us has done this before, but both of us are avid photographers. Beginning scrapbook suggestions that aren't from a generic website?

Thanks so much!

Any recommendations for baby scrapbooking site?

Baby's online presence/scrapbook. Any recommendations for a site to keep family and friends informed while also archiving baby's early life? NYT had a story yesterday on different baby content management systems.

We'd want one that integrates with Flickr if possible, allows for photo and video uploads, and has privacy settings so only family and friends can view it. If it had RSS feeds or something so that we could do blog posts in Facebook that'd be cool too.

TotSpot looks to be the best right now, but any recommendations from MeFites would be welcome.

And yes, we know that we could do this with ease with a blog or Vox or whatever... but I imagine that some of these sites have cool features that wouldn't be available as a WordPress plug-in or something.

How to uncurl heat/glue-warped photos?

How can I "uncurl" photos that are no longer flat, but have somehow become warped? I printed out some digital pictures at the "while-you-wait" Kodak kiosk at Target. Photos are beautiful, but as a result of either pasting them on some matting paper and/or the Los Angeles summer heat in my room, the photos now have a really annoying curve/curl to them.

I've tried subjecting them to a heavy weight, but that only solves the problem for a little while. Any suggestions on making them nice and flat again?

What to name my B&B?

Help me name my new business venture. I'm looking for a creative/non-cliche name for a bed & breakfast that will cater to crafters, with an emphasis on scrapbookers. Basically it will be a three day/two night girls weekend. The B&B has a large craft area. We'll also offer massage, manicure and pedicure. Any ideas?

Surrealist Scrapbooking

I am making a scrapbook for a friend of mine. The challenge? Neither one of us is the type to groove on the tacky "Precious Moments" aesthetic of most scrapbooking materials available. What's an aging goth to do? I am looking for craft and scrapbooking materials and ideas that are more Dark Victorian, Weimer-esque, Art Nouveau, and antique-y than "cute n' country". My idea is to make something that looks like an antique Dadaist/Surrealist art book out of the photos I have. I have scoured the internet, local second hand stores and craft shops for months, with little success. My stock of "found" items is limited at the moment and mostly too contemporary for my needs. Any suggestions for where I can get cool materials online or in the Seattle area would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help me preserve my fathers memorabilia

My father passed away recently and in going through his papers, etc. I have come across a large array of letters, receipts, bills, and various photos. I want to preserve these in some sort of scrapbook form, with the emphasis on preservation rather than scrapbooking cuteness, but accessible and respectful nonetheless. What site should I visit for advice, guidance and inspiration?

Presenting newspaper scans as a book

What's the best way to organise a book of old newspaper clippings, quotes and recipes? (Scanned and/or transcribed) My grandmother left me a biscuit-tin full of newspaper clippings. During the 50's, 60's and 70's, she contributed short essays, opinions, hints, and family stories, to local newspapers and magazines. I've also got a hand-written recipe book which she had written out as a young woman, and her 'Treasure Book' in which she transcribed quotes, poems and Bible verses in later life.

I want to compile all of the newspaper clippings and highlights from the other two sources into a book to give to friends-and-relations, at least.

I'm looking for insight on the best way to organise it - not all the pieces are dated, though many are; I could group them by theme, or date, or pen-name. Then there's photos, and so on...

They'll all need to be transcribed first, because the clippings are yellowed, so not all of them will have scans in the book. (although I am planning on scanning them all at a high resolution for archive purposes) There are about 200 newspaper clippings alone.

Bonus points if you can point me at an example where someone has done something vaguely similar before that isn't in the "scrapbooking" genre of prepackaged "craft" materials!

Alternative in IE Scrapbook feature?

Please help me find an alternative to IE Scrapbook Scraps, which allow field text to be saved for future searches For several years, I have used the Scrapbook function of IE for Mac to search a public database of law firm court appearances (I think it's a protected, SQL databased; this is the URL where I do the searching: http://portal.courts.state.ny.us/pls/portal30/CMS_DEV.ATTORNEY_COURT_SCHEDULES.show).

IE's scrapbook feature is unusual in that it allows one to enter, e.g., search info into a web page field, save the page (the "Scrap"), and then re-open the Scrap with the info saved in the field still usable (in this case, to conduct a new search).

For example, if I Scrapbook the above-referenced page with the law firm "Dewey Cheatm & Howe" in the field, in two weeks, I can call up the scrap, and just it return to conduct the same search; I do searches for the schedules of dozens of law firms, so this is a tremendous feature.

I have looked for alternatives for the Scrapbook feature on IE for Mac, without success. I have been unable to find an equivalent feature on the PC platform, nor anything with Firefox and Safari for Mac. I can save the web page with the other browsers, but in the process, the text in the field either disappears, or becomes unusable for a future search.

AGAIN, I need to be able to open the saved web page, and have the field text usable for a new search.

So, I am either looking for:

--The direct equivalent of Scrapbook with another Browser; or

--Some alternative process on the Mac platform for quickly conducting the same searches repeatedly.

Thanks,

Help me assemble a memorial scrapbook for a woman I did not know.

GriefandConsolationFilter: I (perhaps too quickly) volunteered to help assemble a memorial scrapbook for a woman who works for the same company as me, and who was murdered by her boyfriend a few days ago. I never met her and I hear she was very nice, so I'm fishing for any good poems, quotes, and or ideas. She was young (24) and died too soon but since we never met, I'm at a loss. All suggestion appreciated muchly.

Scrapbook in non-IE Browsers

IE for Mac. Scrapbook equivalents in FireFox, etc?
I use the IE Scrapbook feature of IE for Mac to quickly search for info in a certain public data base (the search term is entered in the search field of a web page, the page is saved as a "scrap,", and then I need only call up the "scrap" and hit the return key to update the search)

Is it possible to create the same kind of "scrap" in other browsers? There doesn't even seem to be an equivalent in IE for Windows?
