How do I convert and edit Sanyo digital camera video?

I just bought a Sanyo Xcati Digital Video Camera. It produces .MP4 files, which don't seem to be convertable for use in ULEAD 7 or Windows Movie Maker video editing software. The camera came with Sanyo CDs full of ULEAD file managing, DVD creating software and Quicktime. My assumption was, since Quicktime was on the Sanyo CD, that is the format the video plays in and can be edited in. And I thought since ULEAD programs were on the CDs, they would naturally work with the ULEAD 7 video editing software I already had. But I can't edit the video and I can't seem to convert the video from Quicktime or .MP4 to .AVI files or anything else. Windows offers a video encoder/converter and that doesn't convert the video either. I can play the video with the Quicktime player, but whenever I try to import video to either video editing software, or convert video to another format, I get an error message that says "Unable to Open File. File Format Mismatch." When I select the folder with the video, none of the video files in that folder appear even when I select Quicktime or MPEG files from the dropdown menu. Those video files only appear when I pick "All Files," and that is when I get the error when I choose one. Is there a simple way I can take the excellent video off this camera and easily edit it with some video editing software; either what I already have or something else?

Editing Sanyo Xacti CA65 Files

I got myself a Sanyo Xacti CA65, which is awesome and I love using it, but editing the files it produces are a real pain in the ass. I prefer to use Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus to edit my video (it's nice, friendly, easy to use), but if I try and import and play a file shot on my Sanyo it freezes up. If I skip into the video 1 frame and then play the clip it works fine. Also, If I have lots of clips in my timeline it refuses to preview smoothly no matter what my settings.

I have 2gb of memory in my Dell XPS 600, so I would expect better performance.

It's like there is something in the first frame of the video that causes it to not play normally (playing in Quicktime is perfect however), and makes Ulead struggle to preview.

Here is a raw file from the camera. Any ideas what's wrong or what software I could use instead (the bundled Adobe Premier Elements 3 isn't much better).

Using a slightly lower quality setting seems to help, but I would rather shoot in the highest quality obviously. Here is a sample of a lower quality raw file.

Thanks for your help!

I hate tvs.

How can I get my satellite and old tv to play nice? I have an old Sanyo tv: model DS19530. Haven't turned it on in a couple years. I hooked it up to my satellite and can't get a picture. (This is just strictly coax, tv is too old to even have RCA hookups.) I don't have a second receiver so I hooked up a splitter to just mirror the signal. My newer tv is working fine but not the Sanyo. I have checked the splitter backwards and forwards, switching the cables and it doesn't matter which output I use, the Sanyo will not show a picture and the new one will. I hooked up a nintendo to it, flipped to channel 3, works fine. But no satellite? I have flipped through all the menu options and other than switching it from air to cable, I don't see what else I can change. Help? Suggestions? Thanks!

PS Called the helpline. The guy knew less than I did.

Going nowhere with my Sanyo 7050?

Help me use the GPS that's in my Sanyo 7050 with Streets & Trips 2007! The Location option in the phone settings is on as well as NMEA output via USB. I tried whatever USB drivers I could find including the drivers that came with the Sprint connection program with no luck. Streets & Trips 2007 doesn't detect anything at all. I've checked Sprint user boards and I haven't been able to find much beyond cries for help like mine. I'm hoping for better luck here since all you guys and gals wear the smarty pants!

Hello Mini? This is Katana!

Will Mini Talk To Katana? I've got a intel mac mini with bluetooth, and a Sanyo Katana cellphone with bluetooth. Is it possible to get them to talk to each other? I want to be able to copy and/or sync my contacts from my Palm Desktop software on my mac mini with my Sanyo Katana cell phone. Right now, to do this, I'm looking at an extra $50-$60 bucks for a USB data cable and DataPoint software to get this done, but I thought if I already had the resources here at hand, why not do that and make life easier. And cheaper.
Please know that I've never used bluetooth nor wireless anything before, so feel free to give instructions as you would to a moderately bright ten year old; I won't be offended.
