What are some cities/neighborhoods to live in that are bike commutable (<45 minutes) to 24th and Olympic in Santa Monica? Are there any specific trails or routes I should be paying attention when hunting for housing? Any specific intersections to be avoided?

I'm looking for recommendations for a primary care physician who is also a naturopath, acupuncturist, or osteopath, or who at least is receptiveto eastern and/or complementary medicine. Preferably in Santa Monica but will consider the greater west side of Los Angeles. Bonus points if they accept my lousy Blue Shield California HMO insurance. Thanks in advance!

Walking in Venice/Santa Monica... so I'm in CA for another week. I'm a big walker... where should I walk? What are the great shops for music, books, film, sights, eats, drinks? Any great concerts, readings, plays I shouldn't miss? Or if there's something a single bus ride will get me to that you can recommend, please do so with specific boarding instructions. Thanks!

I'm looking for an artist that exhibited at the 2006 CABoom show in Santa Monica, he did really long, thin(1'x7-8') Sumi-E landscape paintings. He was exhibiting near one of the hallways in and out of the main room... does anyone know of him, or some artist that sounds similar? I lost his card in a move and would really like to purchase some of his art.

Ray Oldenburg wrote a book a while back called "The Great Good Place" where he described what he called "Third Places", places with regulars who habitually congregate there to meet new and old friends in a welcoming atmosphere. What places near Santa Monica/Brentwood/West Los Angeles California fit that description?

FM time-shiftingfilter: I purchased a Griffin radioshark, and, although a great idea, its FM reception is for crap. It doesn't pick up the one station I listen to all the time -- KCRW -- and my home is just 25 miles from Santa Monica.
Griffin says an external antenna can be plugged into the headphone jack in the back of the unit. Of course, they also say plugging in headphones will serve the same purpose, and still the reception is poor (no improvement). Trouble is: I can't seem to find any external FM antennas on the net that explicitly state they plug into a headphone jack. Is a headphone jack called something else? I've been going down googleholes for hours with no answer.
