Where should we go to have Beef Wellington? Accessibility to North Oakland (walking, BART, and driving are all viable options) and price are factors.
I impulsively moved from SF (I grew up in the Bay Area) to NY in October, but so far don't love it, and am wondering if moving back home will improve my life or if I need to give NY more time? [more inside]
I'm looking for recommendations for a sex therapist in the Bay Area who specializes in female arousal and painful sex. Any recommendations?
My choir does an annual concert, a full Saturday / Sunday evening performance, every fall, for several hundred people. This year we want to add a Spring or Summer after-work weeknight reception at a downtown location. Concept is wine, beer, snacks, and a place for us to perform 5 or 6 songs. For everyone's work friends who aren't likely to attend two hours on the weekend. Site recommendations? [more inside]
I'd like to pay to have a few pictures of myself taken for online dating. I'm in SF. Where can I find someone to do this for relatively cheap? [more inside]
My son is moving to San Francisco for 6 months. He needs to be able to get his ADHD meds while he is there. I'm looking for recommendations. [more inside]
Coming to San Francisco. Non-travelers need a reasonably affordable way to get to an apartment in the Lower Haight area. [more inside]
I'm hosting a two day event in SF next week. Oddly, the venue we've rented has no wifi. Where can I rent a mifi type device for two days that can provide high speed internet for up to 60 people? [more inside]
I'm going to be in SF for a week -- my first visit! -- and my plan is to spend most of my time walking around and eating delicious food. At home in NYC, I use Yelp for this sort of thing, but I'm not sure if my usual review-processing system is going to work in SF. (Or if I should be using a totally different app!) [more inside]
I'm interested in finding some good local blogs or mailing lists for the Mission Terrace/Excelsior neighborhood of San Francisco. My fiancée and I are moving there in a month and would like to start to understand what's happening in the neighborhood, and it seems that this is one of the better ways of doing it from afar. I'm primarily interested in online resources, but any good local tips would also be appreciated.
My wife and I are thinking of spending a week in San Francisco and the Napa Valley in mid-July for our 10th anniversary. Neither of us have ever been to SF or wine country. Can you wonderful people provide any tips, tricks, or suggestions? Best wineries to visit, things to do in SF, places to stay, etc. Basically where should we go and what should we do? Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm interested in food delivery services, preferably ones I can sign up for online. I'd like to try a number of them, whether they deliver from a restaurant ready to eat, a box of produce, deliver a box of food to make with a recipe, or to reheat, delivery a specialty item like booze or cookies or meals for particular diets, whatever. I've been working at a ~15 person software company based in San Francisco for ~7 years now, currently with the job title of Senior Software Engineer, and I'd like to know what the typical salary range for positions like mine at similar (small) companies would be. [more inside]
My therapist suggested that I get an emotional support cat. I super want a cat, miss living with cats, my housemates think it's a good idea and are happy about a cat living with us. I live in San Francisco; I'm worried that my landlord will raise the rent by lots when it's time to renew the lease/force us to leave or something. Is this a supported fear? [more inside]
If you search Google Maps for "San Francisco", it shows tiny corners of Angel Island and Alameda Island as lying within city limits. Is this accurate? If so, how did the city/county boundary lines get drawn in such an unusual way?
I'm a woman in San Francisco. Where should I go and what should I do do to find a man who wants marriage and a child in the near future, say 1 - 3 years? Specific examples of worked for you and for the people you know as well as concrete advice would be great. Thanks! [more inside]

I have health insurance and a doctor but it’s been almost a year without figuring out the problem. I am not sure what else to do at this point. Long description of symptoms and tests below. I have been having intermittent episodes of lightheadedness. That is I feel weak and like I need to sit down (It’s not dizziness, the room is not spinning). It comes sometimes with nausea and seems to be aggravated by other things that make me feel ill - being too warm and being in stuffy spaces definitely can bring it on, being sleep deprived. It sometimes is accompanied by a pang around my stomach on the left. It makes me feel hot and ill and tired. [more inside]
We've had at least two instances of people who are not supposed to be in the apartment building being in the building since we moved in July. One in late October; one yesterday/today. I don't know what, if anything, I need to be doing right now, both from a perspective of "I like my apartment building being secure" and a mental health perspective. So many words inside because what do I do, oh god. [more inside]
My husband and I are visiting my parents, who live in San Francisco, over the Christmas holidays. Something within a 2-3 hour drive, 2 day trip. We took them to Sonoma last time, which went down decently, but now that it's winter we're not as sure where to take them this time. Some restrictions below the fold: [more inside]
I have a long layover in SFO next week just before a very long trans-Pacific flight. Of the time I have there, I have about 5 hours total I can spend in the city (after transport each way). I have two goals: tire out my 1-year-old, and meet up with some friends for drinks and snacks. Can you help me plan where to go for these? [more inside]

The title says it all: I'm going to be in San Francisco tomorrow and would like to buy a box of fruit-flavored mooncakes. I'm aware that this is a non-authentic choice, but since they are available in China proper, surely somewhere in SF should import them as well? [more inside]
I am trying to remember the title of a book I read within the last couple of years, I'm guessing it was published in the last 15 years, although it could have been published earlier. It was an urban fantasy set in San Francisco. There were gods or other supernatural beings vying for control of the city. [more inside]
Mom is turning 80 this weekend and we're celebrating at her favorite restaurant on the Wharf. We'd like to have a cake delivered to the restaurant, but the two bakeries the restaurant recommended either do not deliver (according to their website) or want to balance their budget with the delivery charge. I'd appreciate a recommendation for a place that can do a cake that would serve 10 or so. Many thanks.
Particularly veggies tomorrow (Sunday farmers market?). But also anything else noteworthy. We've found Trader Joe's, but are somewhat spoiled by local grown veg + fruit in Chile (freshness, variety and price (although tbh price isn't actually a problem, finance wise, it's just, my god how can one tomato cost a dollar...?))
Seeking recommendations for a boudoir photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Peninsula preferred but SF fine, too. Thanks!

Back in the early 2000s - around 2001-2003 there was an awesome falafel place near the corner of Haight and Fillmore. I'm less interested in the place, but would love to find a similar style of falafel in the East Bay / Oakland. [more inside]
San Francisco apartment renting - is this how it really works? I'm looking for a new apartment in way-too-hot rental market of San Francisco. My ladyfriend and I are going to San Francisco for a romantic getaway, and I'm trying to find the perfect hotel. Looking for something in the four star range, more or less. I can't seem to find any consistency in the hotel reviews except for the five-star hotels. Any recommendations? Views aren't necessary and I'm flexible with location, but a clean and comfortable (luxurious?) room is a must. Right now I'm looking at the Palace Hotel and the Argonaut, any thoughts on those?
My wife and I are going to take a short break on the West Coast, visiting friends in SF and LA on consecutive weekends and taking the week to drive between the two along the coast down Route 1. We've not been to that part of the world before, so we'd welcome recommendations on cool places to stay and visit.
