Where can I find you, 1981 Depeche Mode Dance Party?

I'm listening to Depeche Mode's Photographic right now and thinking hey, wouldn't it be totally amazing if there were a club/night/party in the San Francisco Bay Area where I could go dance to this? (Also maybe: Kraftwerk's Pocket Calculator? Los Microwaves' TV In My Eye?) Does this exist anywhere? Please say it does!

Confusingly expensive hotels in San Francisco

So after a lifetime of wanting to visit the US, I've been invited to a conference in Pasadena in September, and so am tagging on a week of holiday at the end. I really want to go to San Francisco and explore the surrounding area, however looking at hotels, ones that are in guides or previous AskMeFi posts as being around $100-150 per night are coming up as $300-400 per night, so 4-5 nights of stay is around $1000. Hotel for San Francisco Pride

I've never tried to book a hotel room during an event as big as SF pride and I'm having difficulties finding somewhere for 5 or 6 people to stay 45 days in advance. Our fav motel (Becks Motor Lodge) is full for Pride Weekend (June 27th+28th). Most other places seem to be as well. General or SF-specific tips for finding a room for the night would be really helpful. [more inside]

Linoleum supply & installation recommendations? San Francisco

I have an estimate from an established San Francisco-based company X for Armstrong linoleum for my kitchen (@14' x 10') and bathroom (@8' x 8'). The estimate is $2400 for the kitchen and $1200 for the bathroom. Which seems high, even in San Francisco dollars. (But I don't really know.) So I'm going to get a couple more estimates. Any specific names of companies/people to ask?

Make me presentable in San Francisco - Beard and Haircut?

In a few weeks I'm going to be in San Francisco for about 12 hours for a connecting flight. It will be just after a long no-shave camping trip and just before a set of client meetings that I have to be presentable for. At the moment I'm thinking about keeping the beard, so I'm looking for recommendations on shops (and specific barbers) who can take something from "just walked down from a mountain" scraggly to presentable without taking it all off. Flexible on location - anywhere from San Francisco down to Palo Alto. [more inside]

San Francisco and Redwood Trip with Kids

My family is flying in to San Francisco at the end of June. We have 7 days in the area. None of us have ever been to San Francisco before. We also have a strong desire to see the Redwoods, but we are confused when we look up information on them because there seem to be so many different parks that all claim they have Redwoods. So we are looking for advice on what to see and do, and the best way to see the Redwoods from the San Francisco area. [more inside]

Can my SF landlord evict a tenant under these circumstances?

My roommate got very drunk, put some chicken in a covered pot on the stove to reheat, and fell asleep. I woke up to an acrid-smelling room (my room is on the other side of the house from the kitchen) and the hallway smoke detector going off. She could have easily started a serious fire (she didn't wake up when the alarm went off, and when I woke her up, she initially didn't even remember that she'd put something on the stove). Even though she didn't burn the kitchen down, the house smells TERRIBLE. Like possibly uninhabitably terrible. Can my landlord evict her for this? Can he make her pay for any necessary smoke removal services? What are MY rights here? Mostly I want her gone, but if that's not possible...? We are in a rent-controlled apartment in SF, and each of the roomates is on a separate lease (not month to month).
