Help me choose a waffle/sandwich maker?

I'm looking for a good waffle/sandwich maker. But according to various Amazon reviews of various products, they all suck? Oh, come on!! Hive mind, please recommend a good waffle/sandwich maker? Or separate machines, if it comes to that. Regarding the kind of sandwich press: I don't know if I prefer panini, or the kind of sandwich where a square piece of bread gets pressed into two triangles. The end product is similar to me - pressed bread, melty insides, right? But feel free to correct my barbaric ways.

What shall I eat for lunch?

What else can I keep at my desk for making sandwiches? I'm bored of peanut butter and jam. I keep PB and jam at my desk in the office. That way, I can just grab some bread on leaving the house in the morning, and make a sandwich at my desk when I get hungry at lunchtime.

PB and jam are nice, but I tire of them. What other sandwich fillings can I keep *at my desk* without refrigeration. Sweet and savoury both good. I'm vegetarian, but I doubt that's relevant here (meat not being shelf stable, and all that).

How can I design a robust system that collects lunch orders and payments, collates them, and then dispatches them to a sandwich shop - all automatically? I've finally had it with our office canteen. It's dreadful and expensive. But it's also a hike to the nearest shop. Everyone moans about the canteen, but no one wants to have to run an order book every day.

I would like to set up some kind of ordering system where colleagues could place their order and pay by a certain time. Then that order would be automatically sent to a sandwich shop, which would then deliver to the front desk.

All of the ideas I can think of (using a wiki for example) involve me having to collect cash or otherwise getting involved. So I'm turning it over to the collective creative geniuses of the green. What can you think of?

I'm in DC if that helps.

Wrapping sandwiches greenishly

Seeking instructions on how to wrap and secure a flat sandwich in waxed paper. I'd like to wrap my (square, flat) sandwiches in waxed paper and secure them closed without using tape (to cut down on waste). Does anyone know a way to wrap up a sandwich thusly? The idea I think is to fold it so that you have an extra triangular flap and a place to tuck it into. (If anyone knows how to do this, I'm guessing that it will probably be difficult to explain, but I'm willing to wade through detailed instructions if you're willing to post them.)

Delicious Vegetarian Sandwiches

Ideas for delicious vegetarian sandwiches? I'm going on a picnic with a vegetarian friend, and I want to make some sandwiches that are more exciting than just cheese or PB&J.
I don't mind spending some time preparing them.

*Vegan not necessary but not excluded either.

Recreating Au Bon Pain's Smoked Salmon and Wasabi sandwich

How can I make my own "Smoked Salmon & Wasabi on Onion Dill Bagel" sandwiches? Wow, do I love the "Smoked Salmon & Wasabi" sandwiches they sell at Au Bon Pain!! So much that I get cravings for them every day around this time. I'd love to make my own. The obvious ingredients: onion dill bagels, herb cream cheese, smoked salmon, and a cucumber, are easy to obtain. But what goes into that wasabi sauce (I don't think it is straight wasabi paste.)

Any tips? I can not afford to keep buying them from Au Bon Pain, and anyway, by the time I get a craving for one it is later in the day and they only sell them for breakfast.

How to Stuff a Wild Panini

I have a Snackster. It makes yummy sandwiches that look like this. More yummy sandwiches are wanted. There have been a few sandwich posts here, but none that deal specifically with stuffed sandwiches and panini type sandwiches, which is what I'm after.

In addition to grilled cheese of every kind imaginable, I've made Reubens with great success, and have done a sort of Panera artichoke and turkey and caramelized onion sandwich, and have made mini calzones of sauces and cheese. What else can I try? Yep, I know how to google for recipes - I'm looking for sandwiches that you yourself have known and loved personally. My Snackster is hot and looking for action!

How can I replicate this that is full of deliciousness?

In need of a mayonnaise-free pimento cheese recipe. Bizarre requirements follow and a knowledge of the spread and its incarnations requested. Today, I had the best pimento cheese I've ever had in my life. It was a sharp yellow cheddar/sharp white cheddar mix, with perhaps a little bleu cheese, few pimentos, and no mayonnaise, but maybe a type of oil. The restaurant won't give me specifications.

I grew up with the classic refrigerated cheddar-mayo-pimento mashup, but I'm interested in something with a little more taste and a chunkier/less-gloppy texture, where I taste the different cheeses and not so much the mayo.

I've seen some recipes mentioning evaporated milk, condensed milk, sugar, vinegar, cream cheese, dill pickles, and all sorts of other ingredients, but I'm weary without someone to guide me through such.

I am open to adding more peppers, extra spices, or turning up the heat. Thank you!

Sandwichs!

Who loves sandwiches? I do! But I'm tired of sandwichs designed in the vacuum of my mind. My question is thus: What are some great sandwichs? I'm also curious about sandwich tips and techniques that make any sandwich, or most sandwichs all the better. Bestow unto me your sandwichy wisdoms, Metafilter!

Sandwiches Are Beautiful, Sandwiches Are (I Guess) Fine!

The challenge: 125 sandwiches suitable for quartering, most of which can be made the day before. My sister lost the battle, so they're serving sandwiches at her wedding. We will not give in to Those Who Wish To Be Boring so we need some creative yet simple sandwich ideas.

The sandwiches will be primarily assembled the day before, though things like spreads could be added the day of. It's a morning wedding so there's not a lot of time for fiddling that day.

The crowd ranges from meat and potato folk to a wide range of people from other countries so the palates are pretty diverse.

Cost is a concern, though that should be obvious since we're making them ourselves.

She's really okay with having sandwiches, so only sandwiches and sandwich-type items need apply.

Where can I find the "couple sandwiches..." t-shirt?

Sometime last fall, I found a site that had a cute t-shirt that I wanted to buy my brother-in-law. It was from a woman artist (pretty sure), had a cartoony picture of hamburgers or regular old sandwiches, and said something like "I'm a couple sandwiches short of a pile of sandwiches." I bet it was this very site that took me there. I think the artist also drew cute cartoony bunnies, but that may be totally wrong. Google shows me a couple instances of that phrase, but no clothing. Do you know where I can find this clever shirt?

Sandwich Style

When I eat a sandwich, I tend to grasp it with my fingers underneath and thumb on top, and then I flip it around and eat it with my thumbs on bottom, thus eating the upside down (or far side first). Am I the only person who does this?
