Grody summer sandal feet, cracked heels, yada yada. I know what I need to do (pumice, shea butter, etc.), but in the summer I'm already burning up even before I try to put socks on at night! Is there anything else I can do? [more inside]

I'm sick of buying Old Navy flip-flops every year, only to have them wear out on me in early August, when I'd like to keep wearing them well into October. I'd like to invest in one or two really awesome pairs that will last me through at least an entire year of wear, if not more. The style must be similar. Solid color, cushy sole, not too heavy, straps that are about the same width or a touch wider and don't irritate my feet. Preferably not too expensive, but if they'll last me several years I'd consider it. I'd like to start with solid black, but I would spring for a brown pair if I found something really good. So, any recommendations? Have any of you found flip-flops that have held up continuously, or are they just typically made to be worn through quickly? Bonus points for something that has a little bit of arch support to it.

I think these "barefoot sandals" would be quite fetching if done in a dark brown satin-finish cord and attached to a leather sole (something like these), and I’m trying to figure out how to go about it. Making the crochet part is no problem at all, but finding a sole and attaching the two is going to be a challenge. I'm hoping that the accomplished MeFi online shoppers can help me, and also that there's a MeFite or two who know something about cobbling. [more inside]

I have been looking high and low (without luck) for this pair of sandals--I know they exist, because I saw someone wearing them before I became intent on getting a pair. Oh, how I wish I'd asked her where she got them! It is a sort of boho-thong sandal with a flat ring that sits between your big and first toes. Thin cords make up the side straps. I already know of Tevas, but even those have multiple variations so I turn to y'all's experience and suggestions of specific sandals to buy for outdoor use. Anyone remember those brown leather sandals from the 70s which used a slab of old tire for the sole? The top straps were linked with rivets and metal rings. They were very common then, but apparently not so today. Can anyone out-Google me and find some for sale?

How can I get rid of the odour that my sandals leave on my feet? They have a vinyl lining which creates an awful smell when contacted by sweat. This isn't a problem with any other footwear, and I've had a number of other people complain about this happening to them, so "wash your feet" would not be an appreciated response.
