Wanted: Simple phone with a couple bells/whistles for my technologically challenged paternal unit [more inside]
I just upgraded my phone to a Samsung S5. I'd like to protect it, but since it's already on the big side I'd like to get a case that balances slimness and protection. I already have a screen shield on it, so something that plays nice with that would be appreciated. Price range is between 10 and 25 dollars. Availability on Amazon a huge plus.
I've had an iPhone for as long as I've had a smart phone but I don't like certain things about it (The inability to replace the battery yourself and not being able to add on storage size) which is why I'm considering switching to a Samsung android phone. I'm just concerned that I won't like it because I'm so used to the iPhone. I currently own all things Apple (MacBook, iPad, iPod) and am used to iTunes. Is it worth it to switch to a Samsung android phone or should I just buy the new iPhone 6? How's the learning curve on switching to an android phone when you've always used an iPhone?
How do I get a Samsung WB350F camera to save portrait oriented images in the correct orientation? [more inside]
I have been gifted a Samsung Gear Live, and in the process of struggling to put a backpack on over a heavy winter jacket, I ripped off one of the watch bands. The band itself is fine, but the metal post or whatever that attaches it to the watch face is bent. Can I buy just the post somewhere? [more inside]
I got my samsung galaxy s3 15 months ago. My phone has been acting up lately - been very slow to charge and even after being fully charged goes down within 10 minutes. Now my phone say that it is charging but only reports 0%. I've had it plugged in for several hours with no change. I then turned off my phone and then removed the battery and put it back in again. Currently can't get to a Verizon wireless store and traveling. Was wondering any means to self diagnose the problem until I get to a real store next week. ANY ADVICE WOULD be HELPFUL. Thanks in advance!
My (never rooted) Samsung Galaxy S4 has been exhibiting some strange behavior. How can I tell if I have a virus or if there's a more innocuous explanation? [more inside]
My new phone's Bluetooth insists on automatically turning itself on without any authorization or configuration. Should I be concerned about vulnerability? [more inside]
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone a year and a half ago. The screen stopped working today (not due to an accident or any other trauma) and Samsung are sending me a return envelope to get it repaired. However, I had the screen replaced by a third party after smashing it last Christmas. It was replaced with a Samsung part. Does this mean my warranty is void? [more inside]
This is idiotic, I realize. How do I hold my Samsung S4 up to my face, for phone calls, without mashing random touch-screen buttons? Every time I use it in that way, I end up pushing things inadvertently with my cheek. I think it's very likely that I'm doing something wrong.
I have a Samsung I200. I like it well enough, but it doesn't have much on-board storage (4 gigs). I recently put a 16GB card into it to increase storage. However, I'm still running into problems with having enough space. [more inside]
My new Samsung Tablet, SM-T230NU running Android 4.4.2, comes with 8 gigs of memory. I have installed an additional 16 gigs of memory. I tell it to install and download comics to the 16 gig sim. It won't do so and keeps filling the primary memory. [more inside]
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini (GT-19195/ Android 4.2.2.) with a Samsung USB/power cable that until two days ago was able to connect with my laptop (Windows 7) over USB. Now however, after a firmware update, the computer no longer sees my phone nor does the phone see the computer. What's going on and how can I resolve it? [more inside]
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Are there structured courses that will teach me about all of my phone's features? [more inside]
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on the Bell network in Canada. It is bloated with bloatware, and most apps can't actually be transferred to the SD card i've mounted. So i have a phone without much stuff i actually want on it, and tons of stuff that i don't, and i want to fix that situation - but i'm nervous. I've seen various solutions on message boards and stuff online, but i'm very wary of downloading zip files from random message boards, for a solution that may or may not work for my phone. [more inside]
I am looking at getting a new phone with a big-ass screen, primarily for browsing. I've narrowed it down to an LG Pro 2, Sony T2 Ultra, or Galaxy Note 3 - but I need to know if anyone actually uses the space-age stylus. [more inside]
The battery life on my Samsung Galaxy S3 has become bad and unpredictable, and I'm looking for either a larger battery or some kind of extended battery case. What are the best options? [more inside]
Do I have to replace my Samsung refrigerator's water filter? [more inside]
So I didn't really want to use a question on this, but earlier today I was out taking the camera on my new S5 for a spin. The results are beautiful. The problem is that at some point during the day, I managed to drop my phone about four feet onto the metal footplate of my electric wheelchair. I'm wondering if this may have killed the maniacally fast autofocus I thought I had going for me earlier in the day. [more inside]
I have a Galaxy S4 and I generally transfer pics from it to a Windows 8.1 PC via USB, connecting up the Samsung as an external hard drive, navigating down to the DCIM folder on the camera's external SD card, then dragging & dropping. Recently, all my photos more recent than Feb 2014 are not visible via Windows Explorer even though the camera itself shows that those photos are indeed stored in the same folder on the external SD card that has all the pre-Feb photos. What gives? Are they hidden form view somehow?
Up until a week or two ago, my phone's predictive text function predicted not just which word I was typing, but also which word I was likely to type next. It used an algorithm which not only paired common words, but which (and this is the important bit) also learned which words I used frequently. Now that's not happening any more. Predictive text is still working, but it doesn't seem to be learning my vocabulary any more. How can I make this work again? [more inside]
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3 (mmm jelly beans). I frequently use my phone to listen to podcasts via Doggcatcher or audiobooks via Audible. Since the update to 4.3, when audio is playing, the lockscreen defaults to showing a Doggcatcher or Audible widget, meaning I have to swipe in order to get to the lockscreen proper to see e.g. the clock, which is most frequently what I'd like to see. I would like it to stop doing this. [more inside]
I'm considering signing up for one of Brightspot Mobile's pre-paid plans. I will need to buy an unlocked (or T-Mobile) phone and I'm interested in a Samsung Galaxy S4 or HTC One. Is there any possible way I can pay for it in installments? [more inside]
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on 3. I get extremely little reception at home and a signal booster doesn't help. Is there a hardware solution, like a special case, wire, foil, etc I could use at home to boost my signal? homemade ideas and commercial ones welcome.
I am trying to run an old Samsung ML-2510 laser printer off a USB port with a desktop running Windows 8. I have downloaded the appropriate universal print driver and Samsung Easy Printer Manager. The printer installed and ran fine when I first bought it (used), but after a month or two the computer wouldn't recognize it for whatever reason. After a day of fiddling and installing and uninstalling drivers, changing USB ports, etc., I can get it to run perfectly. I then print off my stuff. The next time I go to use it, the computer can't find it and won't run it. Anyone have this problem with a computer recognizing a printer intermittently? I can understand it not working at all, but why does it work perfectly and then quit working, apparently at random intervals?
I have a wifi network on an Airport Extreme 802.11n, extended by several Airport Express (2008 model, MB321LL/A) base stations. My new Samsung LED TV, in a room about 20 feet from the Airport Extreme, takes down my entire network—I can't reach the internet anywhere in the house—until I shut down the TV and reboot the Extreme. Suggestions for diagnosing and repairing the problem, please? [more inside]

I have a Samsung NC20 laptop that I bought 4 or 5 years ago. It runs Windows XP and has some sort of malware, IRP Hook, that AVG has found but cannot remove. In addition, it runs significantly slower than I would like, and cannot play most videos at all--the sound plays fine, but the image just staggers and jumps. [more inside]

Can someone help me with the technical aspects of switching my cell phone from one provider to another? [more inside]
I've had my phone (a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze) for about a year and a half, and it is no longer under warranty. Recently, it has developed two problems relating to aspects of the hardware. I need to determine if I (a person with little to no experience with fixing electronics) can fix these problems inexpensively, or if I should just bite the bullet and buy a new phone. (I'm a student, so buying a new phone after less than two years is not something that makes my wallet happy.) [more inside]

I am getting a Tablet for work, either a Nexus 10 or an iPad. I'm pretty well versed on the features and drawbacks for both, and I feel like if my other devices were either all Apple or all Google/Windows I'd make the choice based on matching my current device operating system ecosystem. BUT right now, each device I use has a different OS, so is there a better device to match my tablet operating system with? [more inside]
Argh! I've spent half a day agonizing about this. I'm on a budget, I need a new laptop, I do not want to cheap out and then regret it, but I don't want to pay for stuff I don't need. [more inside]
