Where can I buy this hot sauce?

Where can I buy this hot sauce? There is this change of Mexican fast food places in Arizona and Southern California (well, San Deigo area) called Filiberto's. They have all types of salsas and hot sauces but it seems like their signature sauce is this simple 'red' sauce. Its really good and I was wondering if anyone knew if it was something 'off the shelf' and thus you could buy it someplace.

Again, here is a pic of the sauce as it comes from Filiberto's.
Cranberry salsa recipe!

Give me your best cranberry salsa recipe! When I was younger, I had the joy of trying cranberry salsa for the first time. Now, as I've been invited to a friend's family's Thanksgiving, I've decided to try my hand at cranberry salsa to bring with me. But after Googling for recipes, I see that (unsurprisingly) there are many variations on the recipe out there. I've only had cranberry salsa once, and I had no clue what the specifics were in the recipe, so what variation do you recommend, hive mind? Spiciness is not an issue, but I'd rather not have it be burn-your-tongue-off hot.

Plays Well With Others?

Latin Dancing Ettiquette: I really want to learn Latin Dancing, but for cultural reasons (and prudishness) would be uncomfortable dancing with a woman other than my fiancee. I doubt I would be pleased with her dancing with other men. I spoke to an instructor who told me that couples can attend with no need to rotate partners.

Does anyone have experience with this? Do you end up feeling like the Amish with how conservative your attitudes are? Are there situations where you are made to feel rude if you do not dance with others?

Recreating the perfect pineapple salsa

How do I duplicate at home this absolutely perfect pineapple salsa I just found? After being spoiled with my favorite recipe of all time at a local burrito place, the shack closed down and the perfect pineapple salsa went with it. This was four years ago. I've spent that time searching for something as close to that recipe as I could find, and just about a week ago I found an almost-perfect analog that is served at a regional "build-your-own-burrito" chain.

This chain seems more stable than the hole-in-the-wall the original perfect salsa came from, but nonetheless I want to try to recreate this perfection in my own home in case they do close down or I have to move, or just to save money. Now that I have a sample, I realize I'm going to have to do a lot of trial and error, but are there any techniques to this sort of thing that make it easier? What are the most typical ingredients to pineapple salsa that I should try first?

Smooth my salsa

What's the secret to replicating smooth salsa from the jar? We've been eating a lot of Trader Joe's Double Roasted Salsa, and I'd like to try to make it at home. I'm a pro at pico de gallo, but when it comes to home-making salsa that is smooth and creamy, rather than large and chunky, I'm at a loss.

Since I'm roasting everything, I'd assume canned tomatoes are out, right?

Whenever I try to make this, I end up blending the roasted ingredients in a blender. This does a great job, er, blending it, but the consistency is still lumpy. Should I be cooking it after blending it?

Help me, Mefi cooks!

Chipotle Overflow

I happened to mention to a well-meaning friend that I liked the taste of chipotle. Soon afterward, I received a care package just loaded with chipotle products. Please help me make mouth-watering concoctions. The package contained chipotle salsa, hot sauce, mustard, adobo sauce, pickled chipotle peppers, BBQ sauce, even some chipotle cheese. I am drooling with anticipation. Now I just need some recipes. Please help.

Some Like it Hot

Where can I buy La Guacamaya hot sauce with lime juice in the Seattle area? Some time back, I discovered a hot sauce that, along with Tabasco's chipotle sauce, has become my co-favorite hot sauce of ALL TIME.

This would be La Guacamaya hot sauce with lime juice.

I discovered it in an Asian market in White Center, a suburb of Seattle several months ago. I've found that Asian markets in Seattle often carry Mexican foods as well. I buy about 5 bottles of the stuff at a time, as you can see that the price is right at $2.19 for a liter bottle!

Suddenly the market I found it at no longer has it! They only have the wimpy little 177ml bottles!

Please, I'm addicted to this delicious stuff...

Where can I buy it in liter sized bottles? Heck, I'd be willing to drive to Skyway to buy it...

Please note, there is a plain version of La Guacamaya that has no lime juice, and I'm not interested in that stuff.

Do you know of any market, bodega, gas station, supermarket, Walmart, Costco, Asian market, farmer's market, Mexican market, or even "dollar store" where I can buy this? I realize that it's available on the Internet, but I'd rather buy in bulk and avoid ridiculous shipping charges.

Kill me with spice.

Hot food suggestions. This question got me thinking. I love spice. Love heat. Like proving my manhood with food. I consider the "hot" warning on salsas to be false advertising. I can eat jalapeños straight.

So knock me out.

I've had food so hot, that like Paul Muadib, I thought I could see through time. I want more. Burn me until my eyes turn blue! I am pretty sure I can take it. The higher the Scoville Unit the better.

I don't eat red meat, I consider pork to be a red meat, and I still like a bit of flavor (so pure capsaicin oil is out).

Would love to be able to order suggestions online. Prefer non-perishable. Prefer complete food items, not just spice (but don't limit your answers to these).

Bonus points if it's premade (but don't limit your answers to this). TV dinner type food, dried, in a jar, don't care, as long as I can buy it and pop it in the microwave or boil it on the stove.

I am talking the type of food that you wash your hands three times after eating before putting your hands anywhere near your eyes, and four times before using the bathroom.

I've occasionally gotten food close to being hot enough as some Indian or Thai restaurants, but only after insulting the cook's ancestry. Ok, seriously, never did that, but have had the cook come out and check on me too many times to count to see if the white boy was still a standin'.

I live in Iowa, so "This place on Southwest 14th in New York..." won't be helpful (unless they have mail order).

I want my sweet sweet salsa!

Is there a copycat recipe in existence for Trader Joes' Corn and Chile Salsa? How about a cheaper alternative? I have become completely addicted to Trader Joe's Corn and Chile Salsa. The salsa is a tomato-less and appears to mostly consist of corn, a bit of green chile and onion, sugar, and vinegar. I've spent more than a little bit of time trying to find a recipe is even close to it, but haven't had any luck. In particular, it is a very sweet and tangy salsa - it's not spicy at all. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this? My few attempts have ended up in sugary corn goop.

Failing the recipe, has anyone seen this salsa anywhere else? Trader Joe's rebrands almost all of their goods, so I'd imagine some other company makes the salsa in their own label. Any hints?

LatinDancingFilter: Where do any of y'all go salsa/latin dancing in NYC? I am no pro but I do know a few moves, been out a bunch - just not in NY. I know my basic salsa, cha cha, rumba, samba! Looking for stuff Friday or Saturday, visiting from out of town. I know there's a bunch of online resources I can look at (I'm already looking) but just in case any of you guys already know a place you like a lot, I'd love to know what/where exactly that is.
A Salsa Similar To Chili's

I love Chili's salsa, it isn't full of chunks of veggies like the salsas I've tried in the store (and I think I've tried them all). Last night I went to On The Border and found out I liked their salsa even better. A similar consistency, but spicier and with some cilantro.

What kind of salsa am I looking for (ordering online is fine, or brick and mortar in metro NY) that is most similar to these two?

Help me blend, not bland, my way through summer

It's about to be summer in Texas. I bought a smallish food processor. Please give me your best food-processor recipes. I realize there have been discussions of salsa, baba ghanouj and hummus here on the green... and wondered, what else is there? In the summer it's too g.d. hot to cook lots of times, so for example, we make a cold pasta salad with a vegan pesto that's tasty. What other things can I make with the food processor that are like this? Sauces, dips, dressings, salsas, guacamoles, etc.? Soup base, maybe? Can I make nut butter in this thing as well? I have a rice cooker too, and can use it without overheating the kitchen, so if you have a recipe for something that goes well over rice, couscous or quinoa, bring it on!

I prefer vegetarian recipes; however, if you have a bizarre meat-based recipe, let's hear that too, just for the heck of it.

Healthy chips and dip?

Healthy chips and dip? Lo, long have I quested thro' the dales and deep, like Bilbo for the One Ring, seeking chips that art not crap for my diet. (That would be “crisps” for you heathen Brits. And yes, I know Tolkien was British.)

Recently I happened upon Snyder's of Hanover sunflower and corn chips. They have a very nice texture but the flavor is meh.

In dip news, I like Middle Eastern food in general. I like حُمُّص بالطحين but besides putting it in falafel I've never found much else to use it with, much less dip in it.

But… Whoso putteth these chips in this dip, shall be the King of the Britons! There's a snacktacular gestalt between these two things, creating a Nietzschean Über-Snack, that I find delicious. And looking at the nutrition facts the combination doesn't look too bad health-wise: no trans fat, not too much fat overall, average carbs and below average sodium for a snack food. Definitely better than potato chips and onion dip, in any case.

So I ask you, me droogy droogs, what sort of healthy chips / crisps do you know of that I could put in my hummus, or healthy dip that I could dip my Hanoverian sunflower chips in, or other healthy combination of chips and dip?

Who truly plays alternative latin ballroom / salsa music?

Who truly plays alternative latin ballroom / salsa music? BallroomDanceFites: Of course during ballroom dance competitions, the dj guy will often play covers people make that sound like remakes of the original tunes.. just with altered tempos to make 'em suitable for dancing.

But i'm talking about, say, stuff that is alREADY suitable for dancing without alteration... for example, Kirsty MacColl's Tropical Brainstorm, a great pop record with words and melodies for all the tunes, yet almost the whole thing is done with beats that need no adjusting, nearly perfect for your cha cha, samba, merengue, etc. of choice.

I did already search on mefi, and listened to a bunch of stuff people recommended for salsa, but none of it was particularly nifty AND also ready-for-dance-usage. Some tunes here and there are good to go from people like Pink Martini or early Goldfrapp, Thievery Corporation, etc, but how about an entire record?

Gracias, mefiters.

How do I make my homemade salsa taste less tomatoey?

How do I make my homemade salsa taste less tomatoey? Basically, I'm no cook, but have tried making a blackbean and corn salsa with the following ingredients:

corn
blackbeans
tomato
onion
salt to taste (but not that much)

The ingredients all seem to be the basics to this type of salsa.
I usually just add the ingredients to taste, but have found no matter how little tomato I add, it overpowers the rest of the ingredients. This is my first attempt at making food that's not out of some box, so I have NO idea what I'm doing.

Because I'm trying to make the perfect salsa to my own taste, I usually put a tomato through a food processor because I don't like tomatoes to be so chunky like in most salsas. I've already tried leaving out most of the inside of the tomato. And what I don't get is that even super-chunky out-of-a-jar salsas don't have the tomatoey taste.

Am I simply missing a spice, or should I just give up on my first attempt at really making something other than rice-a-roni?

What are your favorite salsa artists and albums? Señorita Tacos and I like the salsa, but we have trouble finding good music. What are your favorites?

We know the big names like Marc Anthony and Victor Manuelle, but could use more. We salsa a lot, so our collection needs expansion.

Help me name that tune!

There is a song near the end of the movie Babel that does not appear to be on the sound track. Can someone please name that tune? The song appears in the last 45 min's of the movie in a scene at the wedding reception in Mexico. It has a salsa sound to it and does not sound like much of the popular mexican music played at the reception.

I first heard this song in a salsa club in Shanghai of all places in 2005 and it's been driving me insane trying to figure out what song it is. Please help!

Can you name this Merengue song? The two details I'm positive about are that this song is Merengue and that the hook is a male voice singing loudly, "Porque te quiero!" I've searched on Google and iTunes for a while but no luck up until now. Thank you.

What song is this?

Song I heard at a salsa club last night.. The song was in Spanish and had lyrics that went something like: Something, something "no me quieres mas, como me gusta quererte." These lyrics seem to be the hook of the song because they are repeated many times. The song has to be fairly popular because I've heard it several times at several different clubs. Thank you for your help.

Some Like It Hot

I need a simple salsa recipe. Sometimes, Google works against you. I did a quick search for a simple basic salsa recipe (I'll experiement later) and was promptly buried in electrons. Heck, I found single sites with hundreds of recipes. I'm flummoxed.

Look, here's the sit: three Mexican markets opened in my neighborhood, pushing out the Mom-n-Pops. I won't grouse ... I'll try to make the best of the opportunity. They have a wide variety peppers (Serrano, Ancho, Jalapeño, Chipotle, Habnero, etc.) Several types of tomatoes (fresh, canned, sundried, roasted), spices (many of which I have no clue about), etc.

I have a small food processor. I just wanna simple base recipe that gets me somewhere in the neighborhood of "Pace" or "Tostito's" slasa/picante sauces. I'll get adventurous after I'm comfortable with the basics.

General tips would be welcomed as well as a basic recipe.

nb: I'm not a purist; "authentic" means much less than "tastes good" to me.

Good salsa music?

Good Salsa music? I want to learn more about salsa music.

I lived in Mexico and Venezuela some 8-9 years ago. Since then I've been back to Latin America, but only for brief periods of time. So most of the salsa music I've listened to is from 1995-1997.

I love salsa music, and I want to know where to start. Either with classic artist or those who are popular today. To give you some idea, I've listened to some Tito Rojas (Por derecho propio), Gilberto Santa Rosa (live in Carnegie Hall) and Chichi Peralta (Pa'otro'lado)

So, any recommendations?
