How do I find a salesperson? How do I pay them? What kind of freedom do I give them? How can I make it worth their while so it can be a long term relationship? I believe there are people out there interesting in helping me, but I've never been able to figure out how to find them. One man bands do everything but seem to burn out faster, and I don't want to do that. I need help.

I am looking for an online or software-based solution to track monthly/quarterly/yearly sales numbers across multiple markets. As a small company, we are not opposed to paying for the service, but cannot afford anything too expensive. Any suggestions on programs you have used?

I have owned a small B2B business for the past three years. It is basically a one-man operation though I have a few part-time employees. I am pretty good at everything, except for one thing: sales. I suck at sales. The way I am currently doing my sales is I send sales letters to people I know are interested in our services and then follow up with them via email or the phone. I'm not bad at writing sales letters, but when it comes to closing the deal, I always have a hard time. With the recent economic downturn, our profits have dropped and I need to drastically improve my sales.
If you have any experience selling to people, what have you learned? Anything applicable in the slightest would be very helpful!

How do I pull off the sales event of the year? I have been put in charge of my company’s fiscal year end sale/open house. The purpose of this event is to generate sales (both immediate and future). We sell specialized machinery to hobbyists and professionals. This will be an opportunity for our local customers to come and see our show room and get great end of the year deals. This will also be marketed to our national customers. They will be able to call in and get the same deal as someone attending our event. We have the opportunity to market to several types: people in our database that have purchased a tool from us in the past, people in our database that have a deposit on a machine, people in our database that have expressed interest in our machinery in the recent and far past. I have several questions that hopefully this knowledgeable group can answer.

Does any company at all do online fulfillment? I'd love to sell t-shirts, photographs, and eventually my own books, but I don't like shipping stuff and cashing checks, etc. I've looked and looked and can't find anyone that just holds inventory, sends it out when requested, and takes a cut. Heck, I'd be willing to pay a few bucks per item to someone doing this. It must exist, but I can't seem to find anyone doing it.
