Runny nose, dry sinuses, nosebleeds--must be December. Humidifiers are expensive and gross. Boiling water on the stove, etc, doesn't help. Could you please give me suggestions of easy, cheap ways to alleviate/eliminate the side effects of dry air? [more inside]

Etiquette filter: What's the best way to handle being stopped up in a crowed situation such as on an airplane or in a large lecture hall? Is it more annoying if I sit and sniff, or occasionally blow my nose? Also, to imagine the worst possible scenario, what do I do if I find myself in this situation without enough tissues?

Cat flu: I'm looking after a cat for a friend, and she recently (yesterday) got a runny nose, and coughs some. She also appears listless and bored. I'm stuck at work and will get her to the vet ASAP, but for now I need some reassurance that this isn't fatal? Thanks!
