Two weeks today I'm running a half-marathon (my first). The running is not the problem; issues with my digestion and its effects are. How can I deal with running and the need to poop?

I've got a problem fitting in working, exercising and sleeping. Some activities are in the evening, and I eat after, then I can't sleep.

How can I defy my natural preferences and desires and learn to enjoy running in the afternoon or evening? Due to a recent move and career change, my schedule dictated that I switch from running in the late mornings (the time that I enjoy most and that feels most "natural") to running in the late afternoon or early evening (as early as 4:30). This is hard.

The more I work out, the more I realize that nutrition has a huge impact on my energy. When is the best time to eat various foods during the day so I have the most energy when I get to the gym at 5:30 p.m.? And how can I meet my nutritional needs, given that I'm a vegetarian who likes less-processed foods but doesn't have a lot of time for cooking (and can't handle eating beans every day)? I feel like I need a lot more protein all of a sudden.

Why do I always burp or feel like I have to burp when I go running? This happens even if it has been several hours since I last ate. It doesn't happen every single time, but probably 80% of the time. I like running, its just gross getting a taste of that yogurt you ate 2 hours ago when its 100 degrees outside. Anyone have similar problems? Anything you can do to solve this?
