What's clogging my ears/earbuds when running? Sweat/earwax? How to fix?

I listen to music when running, and also I sweat a lot. I notice sweat building up in my ears, then during the last quarter or so of my run my left earbud stops working and it feels like my ear is plugged. The plugged feeling goes away when I take my earbud out. What is going on? [more inside]

Running a 5K in two weeks and have basically never ran in my life

My sister and cousin are doing a 5k in two weeks and I would love to join them. It would be a fun challenge for me but.... is it realistic? On one hand, I have literally never ran more than a block in my life. But on the other hand, I'm in reasonably good shape and it's only 3.1 miles. Is this crazy? What should I do for last minute training/preparation? [more inside]

Much like this question, but I'm slower and have less time to prepare! Basically, my goal is to run an upcoming 5k in 30 minutes or less. Running problems: My dogs are killing me, yo!

I do a fair amount of running, I started about a year ago. I'm looking for dog boot recommendations. We use mushers paw wax, but we run in the snow/ice in Minnesota. I'd like some boots as back on I bought a of Good2go Extreme weather boots. After one 2 mile run the fabric is cracking and they stay on most of the time but not as well as hoped. Skincare tips: Runner w/ calluses, dry lips, early fear of wrinkles, etc

Please help a 28 year old woman overcome her sundry skin terrors: I'm a runner who is tired of having ugly feet (callused skin, short and warped toenails). I also suffer from prescription medication-induced dry mouth that Biotene toothpaste/mouth spray only marginally help. The dry mouth contributes to my chronically chapped lips. My hormonal birth control causes vaginal dryness and I want to solve this potentially by changing HBCs instead of treating the systems with Premarin. Plus, I'm trying to take more action than ever to protect my facial skin and other skin from premature aging. [more inside]

GPS watch instead of an iPhone for running?

I currently use Runkeeper on my iPhone to log runs and races (mostly 10k’s). Next year I’m doing a half-marathon and marathon. Is it worth getting a GPS watch & heart rate monitor? (Considering the Garmin 220 or 620.) I’m thinking about the convenience/functionality of a watch versus a phone, and the training benefits of a HRM. I’d rather not get another device unless it’s a marked improvement.
