Inspired by the fact that episodic TV shows have brief theme songs, I want one that I can adopt for the D&D setting I've been DMing. Something to set the mood during the first ~2 minutes, during the previous-session-recap phase. Help me find the perfect track. [more inside]
I'm about a year into my first-ever D&D campaign (first-ever tabletop RPG, in fact). I get together with four of my friends about once a month and we have a wonderful time. But I'm new to this, a little stiff and awkward, and I need help getting into character. [more inside]
I will be DMing a D&D campaign for the first time ever and I'm looking for some help/guidance on making this as enjoyable as possible for my players, mostly in terms of creating scenarios and encounters that are best resolved without combat. [more inside]
My D&D 3.5 campaign is going to space! Help it get there. [more inside]
My D&D 3.5 campaign is going to have a heist coming up and I'm in a bit over my head. If anyone has good reference materials, interesting mechanics and just anything else to make this be both fun and workable, it would help a lot. [more inside]
My son (11) has expressed an interest in playing Dungeons and Dragons. I would like to help him but I know nothing about the game and Amazon reviews of the basic starter set confuse things even further. What exactly does he need in order to start playing? [more inside]
A group of friends are starting a Pathfinder RPG campaign. Pathfinder is a 'fork' of D&D. We spent 3 hours last night with the DM creating characters, flipping lots of pages, and writing on character sheets. By the end of the night, we were wondering if there was software or sites that helped players keep track and calculate the bonuses of characters online or in software. Can anyone one point us in the direction of good tech to help us spend more time bashing monsters and less time erasing & re-writing. Google shows a variety, but not what's the best stuff. Thanks!
Calling all Dungeon Masters! Help a clueless new DM run a one-shot Pathfinder session. I have a series of questions inside about basic story-pacing, motivating player action, and game creation. [more inside]
Game masters, dungeon masters, et. al. - lend me your wisdom and experience in constructing a cohesive and dynamic campaign storyline. [more inside]
Eberron veterans! Help a DM (new to Eberron, not to DMing) out. I'm looking for intriguing plot hooks that specifically exploit two of the setting's distinctive characteristics: the treatment of magic as everyday technology, and the huge rich/poor gap (i.e., the extent to which the dragonmarked houses dominate). Share your stories, unused campaign hooks, or idle musings. Our preferred focus is role-playing, not roll-playing. [more inside]
Dungeon Masters: Help me start planning and preparing a Dungeons and Dragons campaign for a group of seasoned players who've been a while between rolls of the dice... [more inside]
What should I expect at a Dungeons & Dragons game session? [more inside]
RPG filter: Where can I hook up with RPG gamers (that is to say the proper sort: pencils and paper and dice and too much Mountain Dew) in Toronto? I'm looking for AD&D preferably, Rifts as a distant second choice.
What RPGs are there that are better than D&D? [more inside]
Can you think of time-travel puzzle rooms for my D&D mini-campaign? (2 other categories of puzzles I'd like are described inside) [more inside]
