I have two routers, one wired one wireless. The wired router is connected to the internet and the wireless router is connected to the wired router. My iPhone and MacBook are both connected to the internet via the wireless router and in turn the wired router. I'm trying to get them to see each other. How? [more inside]

What's a safe setting for transmit power in milliwatts for a Linksys WRT54G? It's default is 42- I'd like to bump it but not burn the router out. Max is 251.

What type of router typically has a gateway of 10.1.9.1, I'm used to seeing the typical router use 192.168.*.* but I'm trying to figure out what routers the local apartment unit is using to run their wireless.

So I just set up a wireless router in our house, but something's awry. We have two wired connections--one PC and one XBox Live--and one wireless Apple laptop. If the XBox is off, the PC has a fine connection, but if the XBox is connected, the PC gets a spotty connection at best, and usually can't connect at all. The laptop connects wirelessly with no problem regardless of the other things. Can anyone tell me 1. why the XBox would kill the PC connection and 2. how to fix it?

I have an acquaintance who wants to put an wireless router in her mobile home (aluminum skinned trailer, just so there's no confusion) and access it from her Mother's trailer across the street. It's only about 50' but there's a narrow street in between so a long Cat5 won't work.
A mutual acquaintance is saying that this just won't work because the aluminum skins of the two trailers will suck up all those lovely radio waves.
Anyone have experience with WiFi in this type of situation (mobile home, RV, etc) and what kind of signal she's going to get. Are we going to need repeaters in the windows to get this to work at all or will a 802.11g router and a good card in the laptop going to get a decent signal.
Please, no trailer jokes. These are small-town folks, they have a good life but not a lot of money.
