I just wiped Vista from my Dell e521 and installed XP pro. Internet connection came right up. Unplugged the ethernet cable from the e521, plugged it into a c521 and did the exact same thing. Internet connection doesn't work. What could be wrong? [more inside]

I am having a weird problem with Foldershare. I was able to set everything up so that I can share a folder between my desktop and laptop (both are connected to the internet via an AirPort Extreme Base Station), but now when I sync it only goes one way -- from my desktop (iMac running OS X 10.4) to my laptop (running XP). Anything I fix on the mac shows up instantly on the laptop, but everything I fix on the laptop, or ghost p2p files I double click on the Mac, get caught in the queue and the status switches wildly between "queued" "all matches currently busy" "idle" and "listening" in the activity window on the mac and they are not visible on the xp laptop activity window. Also, all ports are reporting as blocked, despite my turning off the Mac firewall. I tried Foldershare support and they gave me the standard settings FS should operate with and told me to contact the manufacturer of the router. Applecare said the Airport doesn't block any ports. Any ideas? I googled and couldn't find anyone that was having this issue... Thanks in advance.

My laptop can no longer receive the Internet! The internet comes, via DSL, into my DESKTOP pc. The Desktop's DSL modem is hooked up to a LinkSys Wireless-B router, which broadcasts the Internet signal to my laptop. The lights on the LynkSys are blinking as usual. My desktop is receiving the web just fine. My laptop IS showing the little "connected" (two-computers) icon in the system tray, and when I hover over it, it says "Wireless Network Connection... Speed 11.0 Mbps, Signal Strength: Excellent." But when I start of a browser, I can't get to any page. I CAN get to the same pages on my desktop. Help!

I have a (WinXP) desktop with a broadband connection, and a laptop with a WiFi card. My school doesn't allow wireless routers. I'd like to set it up so that my laptop can connect wirelessly to my desktop and piggyback on that connection, without a router. What equipment do I need? Are there some terms I should Google for instructions?
