Rejected Craigslist Roommate = Possible Date?

My housemates and I interviewed several people yesterday for a new roommate. We chose the person whose move-in schedule logistically worked best. However, we got along with all of the interviewees surprisingly well; each one stayed and chatted for at least an hour. I especially got along with two people, and I'd like to contact them again to see if they want to get together as friends, or - especially one of them - as a date. How inappropriate is this? Would you feel flattered or stalked if someone who didn't choose you as a roommate asked you out? [more inside]

What should I do to protect my neck during this roommate situation?

I moved to a new city and I'm currently living by myself in a decent sized but single bedroom apartment. I recently met a friend who's looking for a place to stay with his girlfriend for one month so they can save a little money to get on their feet again. Raising all sorts of red flags already? That's why I love you guys. Besides "Just say no", what can we both do to protect our interests? [more inside]

Help me with SSI information

A relative of mine is on SSI (and has been for a decade). He has always lived with family members until recently. He just moved to a different state (WA) and rented a room in a house occupied by a couple. The rental house owners put him on the lease. Of the couple, only the female is on the lease. When he went to the SSA office to change address, the worker wants the couples income and expense information before they will approve his SSI transfer. Is this normal? [more inside]

Let's hang out ... but only at my place

Looking for advice about how to deal with spending a disproportionate amount of time at one person's house when in a relationship ... while my situation may be unique, I'm hoping others have done the dating-while-living-with-folks thing, or the dating-with-a-horrible-roommate thing, or dating-someone-who-doesn't-drive thing. I can feel myself getting resentful, and that's not fair - it's no one's fault. [more inside]

My friend needs advice on renting a house in San Diego.

My friend needs advice on renting a house in San Diego. He has been there for years, but he wants to scale down from 5 total roommates (including him) to 3 total roommates, including him. In order to scale down like this, he'll have to charge at least $1000 per roommate. Then each person will have tons of space. He wants roommates that are very nice, honest, and super-clean. Is this do-able? What can he do (he's in no position to make any major home improvements) to make it more likely that he'll find what he's looking for within a reasonable period of time?
