Looking for advice about how to deal with spending a disproportionate amount of time at one person's house when in a relationship ... while my situation may be unique, I'm hoping others have done the dating-while-living-with-folks thing, or the dating-with-a-horrible-roommate thing, or dating-someone-who-doesn't-drive thing. I can feel myself getting resentful, and that's not fair - it's no one's fault.

Asking for a friend. She currently lives with 3 other people in a single family household in the Boston area. Recently her landlord/roommate sent the entire household a very passive agressive email and she'd like some opinions on how to deal with it.

My friend needs advice on renting a house in San Diego. He has been there for years, but he wants to scale down from 5 total roommates (including him) to 3 total roommates, including him.
In order to scale down like this, he'll have to charge at least $1000 per roommate. Then each person will have tons of space.
He wants roommates that are very nice, honest, and super-clean.
Is this do-able? What can he do (he's in no position to make any major home improvements) to make it more likely that he'll find what he's looking for within a reasonable period of time?

My roommate's girlfriend moved into our three bedroom apartment and we're about to re-sign the lease. I think we should take the new person into account and re-distribute the rent to accommodate for a fourth roommate, but what is the most fair way to do this?
