Renter A has a lease and takes on a roommate, who doesn't sign on to the lease and then doesn't pay their share of the rent. A wants them evicted but can't get them out on their own. What, in California, can the owner of the property do to evict the roommate, while leaving the initial renter? Does the owner have any recourse since the roommate isn't on the lease?

I moved out of my apartment, but am still on the lease, which extends for several months. I have "transferred" my renter's insurance policy to cover property and occurrences at my new apartment. This leaves me uncovered at the old place. Does this matter?

Roommate is mad that I'm moving out. We're on a month to month rental and I have contacted the landlord to end with the last day being July 31. I was typing a text to friend and the current roommate ended up receiving it. He's pissed that he received it through a text message and not through face to face interaction. He's now threatened to withhold July's rent until July 15, 2011, the last day possible according to the Saskatchewan Tenant Act. How do I make the current living situation as good as possible? I don't intend on escalating the situation and I'm going to ignore his threat.

My boyfriend and I have very different views on what constitutes "clean". I'm not talking about differences when it comes to keeping one's room neat and organized. We're on the same page about that. I'm talking about re-using towels, sponges, dirty dish rags, and keeping counter tops SANITARY. Help me parse this one out.

Please help a new grad move to San Francisco. I will probably arrive on June 1 and start working June 10, and I have $1500 for the whole move in process. Where do I stay while I'm apartment hunting? A hotel is very expensive and a hostel is pretty cramped. I could probably stay on a friend's couch but are there any other reasonable options for 1 month stays?

I kicked the DVD tray while it was open on my roommate's xbox 360 slim. Now it won't close. It feels like the gears are off track or broken.
Does the warranty cover that? If not, what should I do to fix it? Home repair? Take it to the local console repair shop? Can it be fixed, or should I replace the dvd drive?

I am a 25 year old graduate student. I signed a lease with a 20 year old undergrad who has nothing in common with me, except that we are from the same country. She seems fine at first, just socially awkward, but after a month of living together she began to be extremely rude/inpolite, and show signs of hostility.
