We are soon to complete an extensive construction and renovation project, adding much needed student use space to our library. Although there is currently a meditation room in our student commons building, we've been asked to consider setting aside space for an interfaith meditation room in the library as well. If you have such a service, I've got questions for you (as one does). [more inside]
We have booked a big room for our wedding, and I would like to produce a professional looking room plan. Any suggestions for good software? What do event planners use? I have experience with drafting software but only expensive programs like AutoCAD that I don't currently have access to. Mac or PC is fine.
What is the song playing around 49 minutes into this Maceo Plex Boiler Room set? Link here. Song has a woman singing about how her blood earns her keep.
Architects, craftspeople, interior designers, anyone else...help me with ideas for closing off my open bedroom in a heavily eaved, converted attic! Cross-section of the entryway space here. More after the fold. [more inside]
Our old farmhouse was remodeled in the 50s and as a result, the living room is seriously something like 35 x 20 in some spots, while others are 'only' 15 feet wide. We moved here from a house that could fit IN our current living room. It's freaking me out. I'd really like to make the house, our living room especially, seem more cozy. What are some ideas or hacks to make this happen? I see lots of tips on how to make rooms seem bigger, but not so many to make the walls feel like they're closing in on you.

I have a lot of cream cheese. I have a lot of wonton wrappers. I need to make room temp (in hot August weather) appetizers. Hopefully toddlers will like some of them. What recipes do I want? I'm also happily accepting other recipes or ideas for warm room temp apps, and/or store bought items. I'm throwing a party in August for my toddler's birthday and am, um, self-catering. It will be an indoor/outdoor party, and our AC isn't great to begin with, so let's assume it will be warm inside as well as hot outside. I'm planning to rely heavily on Trader Joe's NYC stores for apps and wine, so suggestions are welcome, as they are for other stores or homemade ideas.
I have the opportunity to book a Boston show with a solo artist for 22 May and have been struggling to find a room for him to play. Details under the cut. [more inside]
Find this song/artist? Male solo guitar singer-songwriter, NYC downtown type. His first record would have come out near 1996 or 97 on a tiny label. The opening track was called "The Living Room" and was about the club in NYC. The chorus was "Why do they call it the Living Room, when it's got no life like a ..." (memory fades.) That's all I've got. Who was it?
I am in search of a boardroom/conference room space (accommodating max. 10 people for a meeting for 2-half days) in downtown Los Angeles. Any recommendations? Especially for rentals under a $250 day rate with wifi and water at the location. Thank you.
I'm looking for lunch and dinner ideas i can prepare on Sunday to eat throughout the week. Needs to be vegetarian and low calories (max 350 cal lunch and 450 cal dinner), and be ok to eat at room temperature, after spending half the day without refrigeration. Snowflake context below. [more inside]

I am just home from the hospital and a subsequent care center after I took a prescription overdose nearly 2 weeks ago that was nearly fatal. I live in an apartment with a roommate. Even before the overdose, I never felt fully comfortable here even though I realize it's better, safer, etc. than a lot of living situations I've had. But now that I associate my room with wanting to die, it's naturally a bit more dire that I break that association. I'm familiar with some spiritual ways of cleansing a place, and have a plan to slowly do physical cleaning as well. What are some other ways of reclaiming and even embracing my space?
It's time to paint the living room. Problem: we have light wood floors with dark furnishings and my SO wants to keep the room "light and airy" whereas I would do anything to avoid white or eggshell walls and keep pushing for colors he says are "too dark and claustrophobic". What color scheme can we both agree on to really tie the room together? [more inside]

So, after leaving her job to pursue another degree in a field that she loves and having been out of work (or studying) for nearly 3 years my other half has been offered the job of her dreams. Yay! Unfortunately we're in Yorkshire and the job is in South West London, and the job is (initially at least) a 7 month short term contract. So she needs accommodation. [more inside]
I'll be staying at my mom's house for a couple of months, in my old room. My allergies have been going bat**** crazy for the past week, and as a result I am getting a horrible night's sleep. Sneezing, runny nose, scratchy throat, the works. Please help me Allergy-Proof my room so I can return to some semblance of normalcy. Picture + details inside. [more inside]
I moved into a new house about a week ago. Everything seemed great. Good, quiet location, central location, etc. etc. But, I've come to realize that the folks living across the street are bad news. They're extremely loud, vulgar, and generally up to no good. [more inside]

We have a three bedroom house, with just two of us living here. One of the spare rooms has been turned into a guest room, and the other has been a kind of library of sorts. We have put up Elfa shelving on all the available wall space in the "library," but the rest of the room has become just a storage space. I would like to figure out what to do with the room so that we were making better use of it. The room is the size of a small bedroom, with a window and a small closet. It also attaches to a shared bathroom, with its own vanity. We're also planning on turning the little office space we have into a workout room, so that's probably taken care of already. Any thoughts hive mind?
We're going to do a couple days in Los Angeles for a mini honeymoon next Thur/Fri nights. Want to see the Getty Museum, Olvera Street and maybe some Hollywood. Looking for someplace cool and unusual to stay - we like retro, art deco, mid century, kitschy, cheesy stuff. Clean, basic, bedbug free, a fridge in the room would be nice. Suggestions? Thank you!
So I'm trying to change my constantly messy room (which is small) and I've realized that besides daily cleaning, part of what needs to be done is changing the things I use to help store/organize my room. I've done some purging, and will need to do some more, but feel that I'm not getting the most out of what I'm using now (a bookcase, clothes drawer, small desk, small reach closet). I want to use my space more efficiently and be able to organize more of my things in the small space I have! So I'm looking for the best furniture/containers/DIY/storage options that you guys have. Also any websites that show options/ways of doing this would be great too. Don't have a price limit/low budget, but if it's $150+, please note why it's worth the money/time. Thanks!

Where to find a reasonably priced studio flat or room in London? I've been looking for accommodation in London for quite some time now, but so far I've been unsuccessful (or.. unlucky) with searching in all the "usual" places (Gumtree.com, Findaproperty, flatland.co.uk etc.) In the meantime, I need to move within a couple of weeks, and can't seem to find anything in East Central London (close to City University) that is not super expensive and/or managed by a (what i prefer to call) "greedy agent"... very frustrating :/
