Anything Interesting To See On I-64?

Next week my wife and I will be driving our daughter from the DC area to Missouri to start college. It's I-64 almost all the way. We are going to hoof it going west, but coming back we thought we'd take our time and only drive 5 or 6 hours a day, turning it into a 3 day trip. That will leave us several hours a day to stop. Reliable alternatives to AAA

I just want reliable, reasonable non-AAA roadside assistance, but thus far I've been thwarted on the "reliable and reasonable" part. C'mon, hasn't competition made this happen yet? I'm not a big fan of AAA's well-known lobbying activities, and even if I made peace with the politics, their relentless direct-mail campaign has put them on my shit list forever. [more inside]

AAA alternatives? So I've just learned about the political lobbying AAA does, and I'd rather not support that if I can help it. [more inside]

What is this a photo of?

In an online treasure hunt, one of the clues is a photo of a piece of artwork made out of green bottles. The photo is included inside. Does anyone know where/what this is? [more inside]

Roadside non-crosses?

An article in my local newspaper on the removal of roadside crosses (and having just read Carl Hiassen's "Skinny Dip," in which a minor character collects roadside crosses and replants them in his backyard) made me wonder if non-Christians put up non-cross roadside memorials, and if there are websites with examples.

Murder shrine in front of my house

So, a murder happened in front of my house while we were on vacation last week. Now there is a shrine there around my tree about 5 feet from the bottom of my steps and people coming by day and night leaving stuff and lighting candles.

I don't mind the shrine, but how long do I leave that stuff there? How can I get people to not leave candles burning there (I am worried about fire danger.) Am I responsible for disposing of the stuff?

I have some ideas, but would like some suggestions.

Here's a link to the info about the murder.
